does anybody know if you can tap an asa if it is stripped to re thread it?

Take a pretty mahoosive tap. If you don't already have one of the appropriate size it would probably be a lot cheaper just to buy a new ASA.

depends which part is stripped...
you can CLEAN UP the threads, but re-tapping them with a diff. size wouldnt do you any good...
better off getting a new ASA

i mad an asa, the tap is a 1/2 ntp fitting but you need to cut the tap down be casu the it is a tapered thread and the the widest part is at the end and the tank will not fit tward the first part of the tap
i could hook you up with a pre cut tap if you want

It is 1/2-NPS, not NPT. The tapers on an NPT tap go the full length, it is just less pronounced at the ends compared to the tip. Not saying yours doesn't work, but it isn't right.

as far as asa's go usually it better if its replaced than tapped
