◙◙◙◙◙ The "Aurora" Journey ◙◙◙◙◙
OK,
I have been doing a lot of research and testing on this "aurora" finish, and I am pretty sure I have just about figured it out. It has taken a lot of time and effort, but I think it has finally paid off. I will be going into the lab again either this or next week to test it on some actual parts. There are a few ways it can be done, but I will have to find out thich works best. Here are just some pics of it done to silicone wafers. Some of the processes used to create these effects wil not work on aluminim, but some will. I will keep this updated, but I should have a couple of "aurora" pieces by the end of this month.
By the way, I already know that PE is coming out with "aurora" part kits, but I wanted to see if I could do it myself. I can't tell you all of the details now, but I may release them later on. I will get some better pics tomm, but here are some pics for now:

ive got plently of parts, but I don't think I will be going through all of them. With the process I am using, I am expecting most of them to survive. I don't see why they wouldn't, but who knows.

There are two ways to get that finish. One is just plane silicon dioxide, vary the thickness and you get different colors. The other is to do a titanium deposition and then anodize it. I've been thinking about trying the Si02 approach for a while now, but do not have access to the proper equipment.

as much as i would like to see this done, and having tried to get it done myself, i really dont think that it is a good idea because of the whole novelty of it. if you do start using this process for profit, 1 out of 3 guns would probably be aurora. that, in my opinion, ruins the whole idea and wonder surrounding the aurora pieces.

You're right about some of that, but not all. I have access to a lot of equiptment, and there are many ways to do it. I will just have to see which way turns out the best.

The success rate should be about 100%. I don't see why not. I will explain once I get some actual pieces and guns done.
