perhaps this is a sign that NXL is dissolving. It costs soooo much more money to play in the NXL than NPPL. YOu ahve to carry a huge roster, lots of paint, traveling, pit crew. THe cost is astronimcal. Its sooo much cheaper to play 7 man. Think about it.

Legacy was not doing too bad, kinda shame to see them drop it.
thats what i was talkin about....

i belive tylers dad 100%

and Legacy's pit crew plays every event so it cost nothin for them to do it...

True. Maybe it's a sign that tournament paintball as we know it is dissolving. It costs too much to travel to events and practice, especially when you have 15-20 people going.

This is Bob Harmon. The last NXLFan post was from someone logging onto one of my computers at work or Home. I don't no what Garys plans are for paintball. But from what I've been told Legacy will no longer be playing in the NXL.

If you break the cost down by cost per game, Xball is cheaper. You play 8 games in NPPL in the first round. Xball you play 4 matches each going to at least 5 points for a total of 20 points.

Hotel, paint, airfare, rental car and misc all depends on the team and how budget wise they are.

Just my thoughts

This would be true if you where splitting the cost between the members of the team, like most d2 and lower teams. But if you are talking about a PROFESSIONAL TEAM lets do some comparisons.

Airfare for 8 people is LESS than Airfare for 15 people
Hotel for 8 people is LESS than Hotel for 15 people
Paint for 8 people is LESS than Paint for 15 people.
Average pro team 7man paint cosumption 30-40cases.
Average NXL Team paint consumption 60-75 cases
Entry fees are about the same for both leages.
But you get my point. There are more costs for overall.

Legacy you guys will surely be missed! I wish all you guys the best of luck in whatever future endeavors you find yourselves in.

rather than start a debate about Xball vs. 7man how about we just stick to what we know.

Story goes as follows:

Gary and shows brothers are stepping out of paintball. Gary to retire? Shows brothers back to school full time?

Bob long (& Co.) have been hit pretty hard by ar-con failing to live up to several agreements (with company+team) and as such blast status is up in the air?

Curious about the following:

Now that the NXL is losing 3 teams in one swoop, one of them being a franchise (of which Gary is a partial owner of the league), how does this bode for the NXL.

Will the NXL limp along until worldcup (at this point 14 teams in NXL, subtract 2 for different reasons - legacy, , LTZ)..sounds like only two teams that plays RCO wont make it? (originally I had ultimate crossed out as well, which would have made this all more logical, but apparently ultimate has confirmed plans to continue)

Will the NXL adjust its rules to allow for a mid-season take over/fresh talent insertion to make up for the imbalance.

Gary, is this all for real!?

Thats true, I was looking at it from a D4-D1 level. But if the sponsor picks up some of the tab then it will balance out a little bit more.

I wonder if someone has does a cost breakdown of both and came up with some figures for per game cost.

As for NXL I think they should do like the NPPL does and drop the last place team and bring up the top D1 team. That would make it a battle at both ends of the ranking and more fun for us to discuss

it is true that legacy will not be attending anymore of the PSP/"nxl" this season. My dad is getting out paintball as well, he has spent a lot of his time and even more of his own money in this sport and has decided that it is no longer worth it for him. He has realized that he would like to spend his time with his family and his daughter who is about to turn 6. I think that in the long run without a company to care for and not getting any money out of the team it is just basically not a wise investment for him to stay in paintball any longer.

As far as the future of legacy i am not sure what that holds, we will be attending the NPPL's as Oakland Blast as most of you know but that is with bob long. Legacy for now is on hold. We hope that all the fans who have supported Legacy understand and will continue to support Blast.
