I played and this was one of the best run local tourneys I have ever been to. Everything was first rate. From the air(4500) to the refs(Vicious & Kids). Warped put on a tournament to be proud of.
Two fields: An interesting Hyperpipe field chock full of bunkers, and a Airball field with so much room to play that your primary was usually a wide open 100+ foot run. Both fields reffed by at least 8 refs/field and sometimes 10. Coin flips didn't decide the games, as both sides of the fields were even and symmetrical. All fields netted so spectators could see the whole field from any side. Finally, the field was 100 paces from a McDonalds & Super 8 motel. How many fields do you know that can say that?
The tourney was snowed out the original weekend, so they dropped some prices, and I don't see how the field could have even made any money on this tourney. Very cool of them as they gave out the prizes originally promised.
The reffing was the best of any local/regional tourney I have been to. No bias, quick decisive calls, no cussing, no crying!! They let you play it out, but didn't let the games get outta control. Big Thanks to Vicious & V-Kids, you guys held the tourny together.
The finals format was pretty cool. The top seeded teams played best of 3 for 1st and 3rd place, like NPPL events. Semi's really counted for something.
I will definetly return to another Warped run tourney, but next time I want first place.
