Some have 3 years till hydro is needed and some have 5. Just don't scratch em or dent them. Get a tank cover, it helps a lot.

its when you have to get your tank re-tested so that you can fill it. usally tanks have a 3-5 year hydro and it costs around 25 bucks to get it retested, you can get them retested at scubashops, proshops and even crossfire i think

Try going to the air forums, they have a bunch of stickies that can help you with all this info.
Aside from that, isn't the hydro the coating on the inside of the tank?

They fill your tank with a lot of pressure and put it under water and if it blows, no more tank for you. But if it doesn't blow, then you have it for another 3-5 years.

Hydrotesting is a process of using water at a high pressure to find leaks. If they hydrotest paintball bottle like I hydrotest bundles ( I'm a boilermaker), they they fill you bottle with water at a high pressure. Not stick your bottle underwater( I got a laugh out of that). If it were that easy, then everyone would be hydroing their own stuff. If I'm correct, all bottles now require you to hydro every 5 years.

When I talked to the owner of my shop he said they fill you tank with a lot of pressure and then the put it under water to look for air bubbles which indicate leaks. And they fill it with high pressure to see if it withstands the pressure.

You would need to pay for a new tank. It's not their fault it blew. If you don't get it hydro tested, they won't fill it anyway. So if it blows, you're out your $30 or however much.

Well, I'm not saying he's wrong. They may do it that way. Like I said, I'm a boilermaker and I do hydrotesting on a daily basis.( Sometimes more than I want to.) After filling the bundles up with water, we start pressurize (sp?) the line with air. Once we hit our marked pressure, we check everything for leaks. That is how we do it.

I don't know, maybe different places have different ways of doing it I guess. Maybe it's just the guy that we use that does it how I explained.

Here you go. This is the process used to hydrotest.

So we were both right in some way because in that, they fill the tank with water like you said, and the put the tank in a cylinder filled with water like I said.

Is it going to be a prob that one of my tanks needed to be tested back in 05, I just havnet played since then so I never thought to get it tested, and now that im playing again I would like to have it. So being that long on needing to be tested isnt going to be a problem is it?

If it needed to be tested in 05 and it wasn't, then they won't fill it. If it was tested in 05, then they will fill it.
