Bakersfield, i previously lived up in San Jose but the beaches down here are so much better. Do you know where to find a foamie board for like $50?

if you did find one, it would be crap. you have to pay more money to get a decent board

i have this one. i bought it at big 5 last year. it's not that great, it's a pretty slow board but it's a foamie for around $50. the rails on mine are all dinged up and the foam is exposed. i'm planning on getting a good one soon. i think it would be amazing to build one but i don't have the skills needed to do that.

i was also thinking of buying this one.

it's bamboo, so it might end up being stronger than a regular foamie.

Skimming on shorebreak is cool to watch, but anything else is boring. Next time you guys go to the ocean, bring your skimboards and find a beach with some good shorebreak.

here is a video I found of some local skimmers

^^ the wedge, omg, i want to go there so bad just to watch people skim it, i know i would die if i tried to go out there.

i always skimboard at santa cruz and when i go, i usually go to seabright beach, which is right next to the boardwalk, just past the rocks. late afternoon has the best swells with tons of good waves. that or i go to 26th street beach. a lot of surfers go there but there is some good shorebreak. the beach is really only known to surfers and skimmers so you don't have those annoying little kids making you bail at the last second. i really want to head down to newport or laguna just because i've heard so much about it and seen a lot of crazy videos from there.

*edit- yung, where in nor cal are you?

I need to get a new board, im too heavy for mine. But its a twin tip and has served me pretty well. The breaks at seaside/ortley are to small to ride but i love riding down into then and ramping.

Cool videos.

I got into skim boarding last summer. I used to go to seal beach. Where are some good places to skim in SoCal?
