Moving out...

So it's time for me to get my own place now.
A friend of mine and I are going to rent an apartment together.

Any suggestions on what to look out for or what to keep in mind while searching?

Do both of you have steady jobs? Ever thought about owning? A bunch of apt complex have converted to condos, Its alot smarter decision in my opinion to buy and get some money back rather than rent and never get anything back..

depends on how long you plan on living there, If you are going to school or something then I would just rent for those 4 years, because you will most likly be living somewhere else after that

Actually if you know your going to be there for 4 years i'd buy a condo. You'll get descent return on your "rent" money. You will have a nicer place that most people. Especially if your planning on spending 5-8 years in college.

college towns screw people on rent/parking/storage. So beware, but on the other hand don't buy something if you don't know for 100% fact you will be at that college for x amount of time to make it worth it.
