One question, what is the point of posting a link if the thread has been changed? Such is when people sell the item they usually just delete the thread and post "SOLD" or "GONE!!!". What would be the point of linking that thread?

If you read the B/S/T tips found here it has a way to still protect you:

Since a user is capable of editing the thread after they have sold the item, we suggest quoting the original for sale post with the item you are buying and rehosting the images so that even if they change the initial post, you always a copy in their thread of what was for sale. This helps settle any argument later about what was and was not part of the deal.

rule 6 does have a few areas where it may not be completely meet-able. for example, my 1 feedback. this deal was done exclusively thru pm, as the item to be sold and the circumstances came up in a general forum. there are no links to be had in this scenario. what am i (or the buyer) expected to do in this situation?

Your feedback is fine because it's a year and a half old. The rule wasn't made until later.

good to hear.

i was mainly setting up the scenario, since i imagine that other members have done similar transactions more recently than a year ago, and hopefully there's a way to cover that gray area for them.

so all my feedback from 06 should still be linked or should we post feedback again to get it in the new system?

It doesn't matter when your feedback is from. If you want to convert it to the new system, you have to find the old B/S/T thread.

That isn't a feedback issue. You're looking at the wrong rules.

Look at the B/S/T rules in my sig:

13• No upping someone else’s thread (example - "Sick gat" or "Free Up" in someone else's thread will earn you an infraction).

Thumbs down

This is a crappy rule:

Quote:
9 Feedback must originate from the For Sale or WTB thread in B/S/T where the deal started. You need to find the original thread to get feedback. You may not post a new B/S/T thread just to collect feedback, even if it was for a legitimate PbNation transaction. You must use the original thread. If there was no thread, then there can be no feedback.
I have found many deals through searching others' threads, a couple of which I am not very pleased with the sellers. Unfortunately because of policy #9 It's impossible to leave feedback and warn others about these sellers. I also feel it would be impossible to go back to the user and ask them to create a post about this item knowing that they will more than likely get bad feedback.

I understand your point of
Quote:
Each feedback post needs to have a link to the actual deal or the B/S/T thread on PbN where the deal originated. PM's are not valid for feedback. This will make it easier for us to authenticate the feedback and make sure we don't accidentally ban people that can't find the transaction later if the deal is ever in question.
Why are the crappy sellers protected but not the buyers who got taken? What is our recourse? Unfair.

If they have a thread selling the item and you posted in it when buying, you can leave them feedback. They aren't protected at all.

But it wasnt their thread to begin with - it was JIMJIMJIM posts he wants to buy autococker - BOBBOBBOB says I've got a cocker for sale - and I liked BOBBOBBOB's cocker so I sent him a PM and bought the item - BOBBOBBOB never started a WTS autococker thread... make sense?

Then ask anyone who you are considering buying from to make a thread for feedback purposes. If they don't want to, don't deal with them.

I see no harm at all in asking someone to make a thread when you first PM them about a product.

If you wait until one party has shipped to make a thread, that's a little late and a lot different.

if someone backs out of a finalized deal can you leave them bad feedback?
backing out being they were supposed to ship on a certain set day and then that day they say "nevermind i'm keeping it"

I'm sorry, but no. I know it was an inconvenience, but if neither party shipped, it can't be used as feedback.

Sorry if it was stated and i missed it, but are you allowed to leave a person more than one good feedback? I bought white soft ears from someone and later bought more flex parts from him. Do i add another good feedback or edit the last one? Ive seen some people with like 3 or 4 good feedback from 1 person..

If you bought the two items from different threads, then yes you can leave them more than one piece of feedback.
