Ask The Ref!

So due to the fact that I have been asked by numerous people, here it is.

Questions about rules ONLY!

I don't interepret why a sinuglar person made a call.

My views are mine. But I will only state what I have read in the rule book.

Keep in mind there are several factors involved in making a call. There are too many to list.

If you give me an HONEST description of what happened I will do my best to give you the ruling according to the rule book.

Do us all a favor. Don't be immature. Don't flame. Don't be stupid.

I'll do my best.

Can a ref tke a marker from a player during the game(while the palyer is still alive) to check for "ramp/bounce" and if he can/does is that player "netural?"

Thanks

Ooooh, that's a good one. Under the rules, a player has to surrender a marker any time a referee asks for it, but nothing is stated in the rule book indicating if the player is neutral or not.

From experience, unless it is 110% obvious that the marker is not within the rules for bounce/ramp, the player's marker will be inspected at the end of the game.

trimming the soft ears to match the pre-cut ears is allowed. if you go nuts and do more than trim the top off, it becomes illegal. (note: this only applies to the JT Softears when they're worn on JT goggles; JT parts on a non-JT mask is considered modification and NOT legal)

Hey kimo, are you coming to Tampa? and are you reffing or playing?

2007 NPPL Rulebook, "Players must surrender their marker immediately upon the request of any Referee or League representative at anytime. Players may not alter, pull the trigger, turn on or off, push any buttons or make any other movement that might cause a firing mode the change."

To My Knowledge we can, but I have NEVER done it personally, or seen it done during game. The ref would have to call the player neutral himself.

I would allow them in the condition that shamu said.

As long as they are similar to the pre cut version.

A ref should never pull your gun during an active game.
If it is found that your gun was illegal the penalty is very severe.
If you won the other team will get the win, you will get a negative 100 pts,
the player is out the rest of the tourny plus the next tourny, the team plays
short for six games.
So as a ref why would you take a marker from a live player during the game
and put yourself in a position to cause a team to lose if your wrong.
Because if your right they will lose anyway.

As for modifying your goggles the rule book is very clear.
You may not modify anything.
Even if what you do looks like something that is original.

Why did I do this to myself?

O.K. Simmer down now boys and girls.

Midmanshocker........old news. not touching that one. My OPINION is mine.

Ear pieces.........Geez, again?

In my own opinion(bieng sponsored by JT) I don't think ANY of the JT earpieces offer adequate protection. That being said......

If you cut the ear pieces then you have just "modified" them. Hence, ILLEGAL. Majority of the reffs will look at them, and as long as they are close to the same specs as the "soft ear" version they will let you go.

MY rule of thumb is .......if I hold a soft ear to yours and yours is smaller, not only are you not playing, but I am taking your girl.

Can a ref tke a marker from a player during the game(while the palyer is still alive) to check for "ramp/bounce" and if he can/does is that player "netural?"

Not to be an ***, but .... spellcheck.

By the rules.....yes a reff can take a gun during a game. A reff can take a gun from you when he is on his lunch break walking threw the vendor area. You are required by the rules to surrender your marker to a reff at anytime. ON OR OFF THE FIELD!

If your not doing any shens, then why worry about it?

On the field...........

EXAMPLE - (PAY ATTENTION HERE!!!!) If I just happen to see a player holding his trigger back and the gun goes retarded(example- full auto). I AM PULLING THE GUN AND HIM.

If there is an overt(OBVIOUS, for you un-educated) infraction it boils down to a safety issue. I have seen this (full auto gun) and thank God it wasn't on a field I was working. If a reff questions a gun then most likely they will "tag" it to get checked after the game is over. Unfortunately, not all the reffs have the technology to check a gun during a game and rely on their own knowledge and that of the team of reffs they are working with.

What you will see is that a reff will question a marker during a game. Now as long as the gun doesn't go "Carlos Mencia"(if you ask I will slap you, a lot), then they will wait until the game is over and do a check on the marker.

Bad gun= 62nd place in a field of 43
Good gun= Movin on.

iSpace, sure as long as I get to kick you in the balls when you argue about the hit in your googles or the one on your hand or the one on your neck or the one on your loader or the one on your leg or the one on your reg or the one on your tank or the one on your back or the one on your.......(insert body part here).

PKANGEL - see above. A reff should not pull a gun during an active game. UNLESS ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ or something else.......maybe over fps limits????????

Never say never.

I will not be reffing Tampa. I am trying to do something called "playing". It sucks. I get to not get shot up as much and get to sleep more and get to actually see all of my friends for a change.

How am I gonna cope?

Keep the questions coming.

Kimo
