12-22 would normally be the area but if your gun seems to be shooting funny or sounds bad kick the setting up a few notches.

Hey friends. I'd first like to say that this post helped me to get a decent understanding of how to time my ion. But the results I get from the equation on Kolders like were very different from the numbers I got from Warpig.com. I have my (stock) ion's dwell set at 28, and the ROF set at 23. that is how Warpig told me to set it up. But I am still getting terrible gas efficiency. Granted I was dry firing my marker, but I only managed to get about 300 shots from a 47 3000 tank. how much more could I expect to get when I am firing paint? and is there anyway of increasing my efficiency through dwell settings? because that means I would only get around 6-800 shots from my 68 4500

I have a ion and i have 3 different QEV's for it
(eclipse, 360, and virtue)
so what should be the dwell for each of these? (incase i change them out)
(stock lube/bolt/board)

I dont believe a different QEV requires a different dwell even if so it should be less the 5 notches inbetween....I would think.

Drying fireing takes almost 3x more air I believe.

I was told that recharge is also used to prevent dropoff. To me it makes sense since the chamber has more time to fill with air, but is there really a noticible difference in dropoff?

Well it won't do anything by itself, it'll just prevent you from firing fast enough for the dropoff to occur. For instance if your gun doesn't drop off until 16-bps, setting it to 14-bps would prevent it from dropping off.
But that isn't the solution to the dropoff problem, it's just a way to avoid experienceing it.

48 - 0 should be fine on a stock Ion. I see you have a QEV in You sig, so you can at least drop the dwell to the 20s.

• Replace the battery.
• Increase the dwell. Try using the stock setting (52 blinks with stock board, 34 milliseconds with aftermarket board), or if you have a QEV you can try it at 16 or more blinks (16 or more milliseconds with aftermarket board).
How to Set Dwell
• Clean and regrease the regulator. This is most often the cause.
Regulator Maintenance Guide
• Clean and regrease the firing assembly and solenoid. Be sure not to overgrease or undergrease the o-rings, as either can cause the problem.

just a quick question for you dwell masters, i see you guys refer to the dwell such as 16-22. i have a stock board, 360 qev, when i set my dwell do i go 16-22 blinks or do i do the math for .5ms for each blink and make it 16-22ms. very unsure. please help.
thanks
tim

i was setting my marker to Rebound, and then when i finished i forgot how to turn it out of program mode. so i went to the start solid yellow, and then held the on and off button. that didnt work and i realized i messed with the dwell. i figured i hit it for 5 seconds so i went to the decrease 5 seconds. dont know how exact it was. should i take it to the shop to make sure i didnt mess it up so much? cuz im not sure how exact i was with the timing.

you should be fine....but you could set it yourself, or if your really concerned take it to the shop. BTW to take it out of that mode pull the trigger. That also saves the settings you last did.

Blackheart's dwell settings function identical to a stock board. If the gun is completely stock the dwell needs to stay in the 48-52 range.
