im almost positive metal cleats are no good but there are ceramic spikes available as replacements for the steel track cleats. thats what i use in mine and at least i can say they are not metal if i get hasseled. they do wear fairly quickly though. check out eastbay.com, thats where i got mine. they are available in different sizes and colors, they are also cheap. good luck.
