what is the differences between valves

I have been trying to find out a good deffinition of the differences between valve types. And what is the performance difference between them?

ie. spool, poppet, etc.

well. the only thing i kno is that a dm or pm is a spool valve, basically a thread spool with a bolt in it(but its a metal spool) hope that kindas helps with spool. it also helps to look at it ask some 1 next time at he field

Oh man, hp_lovecraft can explain the differences so well..
I can tell you what a poppet is. A ram/striker hits a valve pin that is attached to a seal that is compressed against the face of a valve to open it and allow air to pass through. I'm kinda shaky on the spool valve, so I won't really try.
The only other valve type that's significant to paintball is the sprinkler, most commonly used in MQ'd cockers. I'm also shaky on that one. Try googling each of them, or even wikipediaing them..I think I made that word up.
I think it's time we blow this scene.
Get everybody and the stuff together.
Okay, three, two, one
