Get some reading material. You'll find it tells you how to compose and expose shots. It can also teach you the best times to take pictures and all that jazz.
Reading, it's not just for geeks.

Flowers get old so stay away from them
Other than that, just do what has already been said. Read up and practice.

The deals section is the only reason I ever go there really.

True, however there are many helpful threads on there also, you just have ot look around.
I've learned tons from a couple of the pros on there. Especially in the sports and people sections.

Actually there is quite a bit of talent in alot of the sub-forums, but most of it is out weighed by the bad.
I have found quite a few good photogs on there however, in many different sections.
Plus I like the boost of self-esteem I get from posting.

Your focus looks alittle blurred, but that might be my monitor because it sucks.
Flowers are over done, so blegh to that.
Keep up the shots, I would recomend spend a couple weeks taking pictures, take your best FEW shots and put them up to get critiqued. Pick your shots that truley speak to you, and decide upon that if you should show it.

gotta remember the rule of thirds. horizontal lines are either along the bottom or top third of the image, vertical lines are either on the left or right third of the image. not centered.
also yes flower pictures are over used BUT they can be a good way to start learning. they are more abundant then other subjects .. just dont get stuck in a rut and always photograph them.

*resists urge to rant about the so called "rule of thirds"*
