door to door church recruiters - ok? i think not.

Well earlier today, while playing cs:s, i heard a knock on the door, i am expecting a package today so i get up to go open it thinking its the ups guy or somthing, and to my suprise some guy in a suit is there, and he hands me a paper saying im invited to some Jahovas witness church thing, im like whatever thanks and close the door. this guy interupted ME, during a game of cs:s, so he could invite an ATHIEST to a bible talk church thing. no it really isnt a big deal, but i really dont care and think that churches should NOT go door to door. i dont care what religion you are, you arent converting me now please go away.

if you are intrested here is the flyer he gave me (front/back)

dicuss.

Get a no solicitors sign if you don't like it.

It's their right, I don't think it is very effective, but they are well within their rights to do it.

I agree. They have the right to go door-to-door and visit people just like anyone else in this country.

No Trespassing sign on your property. I laugh when they come to my door, I then tell them I am an atheist and then they continue on with their indocrtrinization speech.

Did you realize that the OP's flyer read "You are invited..."? If someone is recruiting someone else, they can't invite. They can inform, but not invite. That's why army recruiters go to schools, but don't say "Hey, I think you should join the army," unless they're asked for their opinion. Recruiting =/= inviting.

Although I consider myself an atheist/agnostic, I have no problem with people going around sharing their beliefs with other people.

I have a lot of respect for dedicated and faith jehovah's witnesses have, it is beyond my comprehension how someone could have that much faith in something that has no proof in it.

The army does the same thing. They invite you to join, go over what it can give/benefit you. There is no difference from the army going to your school or door to door church recruiters.

Meh, there's nothing interesting about a pushy mormon in my opinion.

If you ask me, people know your church is there. If they wanted to read up about it, they would do so on the internet or, this one is much more likely, talk to a friend about it. I wouldn't be rude to the guy, but... I am just saying things like that are why a growing ammount of people have negative views on christianity.

It is not only mormons. I live in an area where mormons are rare. The people who knock on my door are jehovah or baptists, not once has a mormon knocked.
