its like a type of "film" that they use on it, it scratches off really easily..you should strip it off, and get it anno'd

sure that's not ps'd? to get it to look like that, the gun would need to be dipped while assembled, otherwise i'd think it would scratch on fittings and such when they were installed.

It's not anodizing.

IIRC, It's something along the lines of "film dipping" and is not very resilient.

I don't think you could get it anodized this way... not sure. You could get it anodized black and lazer engraved to imitate the carbon fiber.

yeah i was thinking the same thing, if it was anno'd that would be very $$$$ since it would be SUPER HARD TO DO

Look at my sig. I have a Karni the same way.

I was talking to a friend at WGP, the Karnis at least, were never meant to be sold to the public. There only 10 of them done in this style and he referred to it as an "anno". That's why the Karnis done in this fashion don't have any serial numbers on the back. There are other Karnis floating around without serials tho, so this is no big deal.

They were sold in a package deal to avillage last year. I bought mine in June'ish of 06. The first one I had was having issues so I had to send it back. The entire gun for the most part including the steel braid hose were done in this fashion. The second one I received in only had the top half of the gun done in this fashion.

My experience is that it is semi-resilient to things. I definately would not recommend using any tools on it though as I have a small bit that's chipping on mine (very unnoticeable). It almost seems like a polymer paint job, however the detail is very very intricate. Mine has last through about 30 full days at the field with no scratches or peeling though. My shot counter on my gun reads well over 75,000 shots.

So to the facts, is it anno? No, it's not.
Is it resilient? To an extent, but you have to take care of it.
Is this possible via anno? I don't know, but I highly doubt it for the level of detail

I would definately snatch it up.

As for the barrel, I had to debate between a Stiffi or a Sly. I went with the Sly not only for some performance reviews I read on it, but also because it seems to match the gun much much better (especially without the yellow part of the Stiffi barrel).

If you would like, I can take pictures of my gun with the Sly after being WELL used so that you can see the wear 'n tear this carbon fiber/graphite has taken.

This gun is definately a head-turner if you give a $hit about things like that
Ultimately, I LOVED the way it looked, and I'm the one shooting it. Who cares what anyone else thinks, right? Right!

Yup, the air fittings are the same way, even the steel braid is like that but it doesn't have the detail due to the weave of the steel. Originally I had debated on whether to take it off to put on a macro line. When I got the 2nd one, that solved the question.

For the fittings, if you take them off to get rid of the steel braid, you will scratch up the paint on them. So if you take them off to put on a macro line, be sure that's what you want to do. Just a tip.

I would've used engine paint on my macro fittings to paint them black to match the frame, but decided to leave them as nickel plated because of the steel tube on the right side that protects the solenoid wires. They actually match quite well.

Cool! Give her a good home.

The stock barrel on my Karni ran big, just FYI. Now you get to choose between a Stiffi & Sly
