Exclamation Behold !! Spyder PUMP / bolt action rifle

Id like to finally share this
Works like a spyder converted to a pump. Instead of a pumping handle, it is lever action. I will consider doing this as a service for other spyder owners (for a fee). Enjoy !!
Simple Video: http://s163.photobucket.com/albums/t...lewithball.flv Its nothing too elaborate.

Feel free to discuss.

Now Pics:

I want to use as much air as possible to get the ball far down range. Sound is no longer an issue if Im far away from the opponent.

I brought this to the field last weekend. Just to test it out. I couldnt put this thing down !!! Played all day with it. I tagged 12 people by sniping from the distance.
It is very acurate from 15-25 yards out. AND LOUD !! But thats ok because I already shot you if you heard it .

Our field limit is 285 fps.
this thing can shoot past 400fps if I turn up the velocity knob all the way and adjust the regulator pressure up to 700psi. But the paint starts acting strange after about 320fps.

but 285fps is 285fps. It doesn't matter how much gas you use. that rifle shoots as far down range @ 285 as any spyder at 285... you could just unwrap the barrel and set velo at 285 and get the same thing.

I tried it with porting and it seemed that the ball trajectory was poor. Balls would curved down at about 10-15 yards. After covering the porting, the trajectory flattened out quite a bit. I dont know why, I just tried it and it gave me the results I wanted.
Im thinking that I may want to try an APC "lowblow" bolt with this rifle.

Did velo increase after wrapping?

If it stays constant maybe you're onto something. Maybe porting was hype!

I mean, my Nelspots shoot straighter than a stock spyder now that I think about it.

Minimally. Only like 10-15fps more. But alot straighter, so Im happy.

Ya, look at Greg Palmer's write-up about barrels and theory. It doesnt have anything about porting, more about gas usage, but still interesting.
http://www.palmer-pursuit.com/techpages/barrels.htm
they sell brass barrels with no porting.

Did you remove the parts of a true rifle to make the body?

I am so gonna do that when I get the money.

Yup,
It is a stock rugger .22 rifle stock I bought for like 10 bucks at the surplus store. I had to do alot of removal from the stock to get the spyder body to fit inside of it perfectly. The trickiest part of this whole fabrication is in the trigger assembly, study the pics I provided to see what I am taking about.
I came up with all kinds of crazy sketches and ideas of hindges and pully systems for the trigger.....it was driving me nutz!!.....in the end, I used a simple piece of steel rod. Ingenius if I do say so myself !!! LOL w/e !!!

I would've made a rod same length as the distance between the old trigger hinge and new trig hinge, thus making a paralellogram (sp) to exactly translate the motion, but then again you're the one who actually did it for real.
