I dyed some i4's neon pink but I boiled the water in a large pot, added the rit dye as it was boiling and then heated my mask under hot water in the sink, then placed the mask into the boiling pot with the stove still on and let them in/rotated them/checked them. After about 30 minutes I had my desired color. After cleaning them with soap/water the next day and cleaning off all the bleed it is nearly a flawless dye job with 0 dark spots. Came out very clean in the end!
PS: No there were 0 negative affects by leaving them in the boiling water, the mask is 100% the same shape it was and it took the neon dye quite well. I never let the water get hot enough to boil over or anything of that nature but i kept it on the entire time. Obviously the time it takes will depend on the color you are wanting and how much you use. I did add more than 1 packet after a while to get them a darker shade.
This is the only pic I have of them. Once im done with the customers wrap the pink ones will be getting wrapped in bright green cf for a watermelon theme before putting up for sale.
