It's only stupid if you can't afford to replace it or will be embarrassed by the results. I dyed my flex from blue to purple and the bottom part didn't take well. I thought scuffing it up would help but it just left a partially discolored, half scuffed mask with a purple frame. People seem to dig it and I'm ok with a lesson learned.
So stupid is up to you

Yea, black Madd Dogs are still available here and there (and maybe Grey??). The MD-HB colors were the ones that JT made, but MD didn't like, so those are the 'prototype' ones. I was mainly trying to help stop the untruth that they are Naughty Dog frames.

"Stupid is as stupid does." With Summer over it's the wrong time of year to see any quick results from fading your mask. Plus, it'll be grayish at best. The only way to make your black mask white or any other color is to paint it.
Dying is essentially adding color/pigment to something - white is the absence of color/pigment.
Look in the stickies under how to paint your mask. I recommend you try Plasti-Dip.

I've wanted to try, but never got any. Give it a shot.
I'd test a small area on the inside first. Since the bottoms are more 'rubbery' than previous versions, they may require a stronger mix of dye and really hot water. (~180*) However, I'm not sure how the rubber will react to the heat - may shrink like the IZE bottoms????
Good luck!

More info would help.
What color did you start with?
What color were you looking to achieve?
What was your process?
What were your expectations?
There's a whole thread of 'input' here - read it from page 1.

What were the results? Greenish blue? What color dye did you use? Starting with blue the frames may not take enough yellow to make it green. I'd start with yellow/gold or white.

But how do you dye a pattern into the flex? such as a splash? I'm looking to do a blood splattered white flex but am not sure how.
