Alienware laptop value and opinion

Hey guys
Im working out a deal for this laptop and i was wondering what some of the ups and downs are.
I was also wondering what its fair value is.
My desktop is a 2.8Ghz Pentuim D with a gig of DDR2 ram
how will this compare to it if i up the ram to 1 gig?
whats your general opinion?

You do not want that!

First its Alienware, second you can get a Dell with a Core 2 Duo and a gig of ram for around the same price.

To outdated for 900 dollars thats for sure. Any one who buys that is paying for the Alienware logo.

I wouldn't do it, but that's just me.

$900 for a used laptop is not worth it.. name or no name

The specs aren't all that impressive. The problem with Alienware is that you're basically paying a good chunk of change simply for the name they slap on it. As for the comparison to your desktop, it has half the ram, which you will notice a difference in. The pentium D you have is a dual core, and that's good, compared to the P4. Basically I wouldn't pay NEARLY what he has the price set at right now.

would a 60 gig ps3 + a game be a fair trade?
i could return my system for $649.79 and possibly the game for ~$50
im thinking he should add enough for a gig of ram?

how will the processors compare?
2.8Ghz pentium D vs. Intel Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz
assuming all other factors are equal.

Its not worth a PS3 thats for sure.

It is behind the times and sucks. Return the ps3 and save up a few hundred more and buy laptop that will last you more than a month.

Werd. Definitely don't trade a ps3 for it. If you're on a budget and looking for decent system at an affordable price, I say check the dell outlets. That's where I've bought all my dells from..

It's not worth it at all.
