I'm getting an error message from itunes saying my ipod is corrupted, now it doesn't work.

your ipod files are corrupt.

reset your ipod though itunes to factory, it wipes it. Then update it. that should fix the problem unless its hardware related

most likely hardware problem, hope you have extended warantee= no questions asked replacement(usually for me at least, my old ipod was replaced 4 times cuz i beat the crap out of it)

How old is it? If it is less than a year they may take it back.
