lol you're a ****in' corporate monkey. Alienware is not "one of the best". They're just the most flashy, and well known of the prebuilt computer sides. They just gear more toward gamers instead of entry/mid level users They get the "best" wrap from people who have no idea about whats really inside and think because they tout off all these "cool" features you read about (water cooling, the latest and greatest video cards, etc) that they must be the best... when they're really not.
Alienware isn't worth the money. While they're better quality than a lot of prebuilt companies you can build your own for a much better price with better components.

A 5000 dollar Alienware will cost you 2000 to build yourself :nododgy:
And if you are scared of building your own there are tons of people that will do it for you for a very small price.

I've built a few computers myself and a while ago I decided I had enough money laying around to buy one, so I went with Falcon Northwest... It's really not anything special. However their customer service is really, really...really good as is thier warrenty. Voodoo computers are probably far better than alienware, considering Dell recently bought Alienware. But what you are really paying for is the name... and in the case of Falcon Northwest customer support.
p.s. dell bought alienware............ remember that

Alienware is still pretty much the same company though. It's like GM were to buy Ford. The vehicles for Ford would probably still be made the same way.

Exactly. Aston Martins, Jaguars, and Volvos are all good cars even though they are all owned by ford.

Voodoo video cards were the bomb.
My old-school 3dfx Voodoo Banshee was badass! I think it had a whole 16MB of its own RAM!

Hell yeah. I was a HUGE 3DFX Voodoo fan. I loved my Voodoo 3 3000 AGP. GLIDE technology was just phenominal. It looked SO much better than anything else (aka OpenGL) but it was a ***** to program for I guess so it ended up failing after Nvidia released the TNT series which was cheaper.

You are a *******. Its Alienware.
and to the thread starter, you seriously need to do some research. Like everyone has already said, Alienware is wayyy over price and their PCs dont really justify the price. My friend has almost the same components as me (I have a nicer cpu cooler, mobo, ram, and hds) and he payed around 3000 and I payed 2000.

Yeah man, I remember switching to the Diamond Viper V770 (TNT2)... not the Ultra though... you had to be 1337 to buy the Ultra. Hell, that's when I'd buy hardware from Software Etc. and/or EB at the mall!
*tear
Good ol' days!
