the new shocker should cost more than the nerve

I mean closed bolt is more expensive to create than open. these guns are pretty much like the viking vs the excal. same thing, just ones a closed and ones open
I think the nerve is actually cheaper, cuz a maxflow is included with the nerve @ a price of 1200 or what ever
am i right?

Right there is a package deal, but the cost goes much deeper than closed bolt vs. Open bolt. I mean you are getting the lpr up front, a higher rof cycling rate and I'm sure other pluses. I can't speak for sure, but that would be my thought. I'm sure tha package has a lot to do with it. Also don't frget that SP has to rebuild the rep of the shocker after that entire shoebox and inneficiency thing.

"Knowing Smart parts"

You mean like how they made you buy one with their mags?

Oh.. Their shockers?

Wait.. their impulses....

NEVER did they make you buy a air system with their guns...

Actually... The nerve is VERY similar to the impulse with an LPR... Its basically what the impulse SHOULD have been =)

It IS a pretty impulse with an LPR plus some other electronics.

Funny that everyone believes the hype...

What exactly would you call 'hype'. A good impulse with an LPR is the best gun in paintball right now. Look at how many teams are using them successfully. They're accurate, consistent, fast, and easy to fix. There isn't a gun on the market I'd rather be shooting than my impulse. The Nerve will be a sleek, smaller, compact, more consistent, and faster design, I think it deserves the hype. I'll probably hold out for the Nerve, because if "just a redesigned impulse with LPR and better internals and higher ROF" than it's exactly what I want...

Touche!!

Well then you will buy a gun what the original Impulse should have been and spend MUCH more in the process.

Thats what I mean dont believe the hype!

And "Best marker in paintball" is a pretty daring statement my friend or at least very very subjective. Its not...

When you take into consideration all of the factors; price/performance ratio, aftermarket support, reliability, speed, accuracy, and consistency, I'd say that the impulse is one of the best markers to come around in paintball for a while.

Okay

Let me see

I got the impulse no: 3350 (or something like that)

The bolt pin broke 4 times....then I machined one
The hammer rod broke......then I machined one
Then the piston in the endcap broke...then I machined one
Then the bolt ejected the pin retaining ball and complete assebly holding it there....then I replaced it

The ppl at SP wanted MONEY to fix theese, so I did it instead. (then I can blame myself if anything goes sour)

The overall assembly the craftmanship is like they employ one armed blind dwarves.. plain horribile.

To have it perform to the advertised parameter you have two options:

1. Buy a custom one for big buckooos

2. Spend lots of moolah on aftermarket replacements.

So based on what you say and I've experienced we can estabilish what you suggest...

"A Good Marker" (tm) is:

- Cheap
- Needs aftermarket stuff to work on the advertised level
- Needs aftermarket stuff to be reliable
- Needs aftermarket support to be consistent therefore accurate
- Needs custom shop redesigns (manufactured by SP) to be high end

Therefore from the manufacturers point you need to do the following to have huge sucess:

- Make obvious design flaws (so they can be corrected later by aftermarket ppl)
- Release in the best case beta stage products (let the public find out whats wrong god forbid create a solution)
- When every (or most) kinks are worked out offer the custom shops manufacturing under their name.
- When you made custom shop versions come up with your own and call it a different gun.

Am I mistaken or this is screwing ppl?

The funny part is that it works for WGP with the Cocker it works for SP with the Impulse...

Opinions?

ACSIK

I agree 100%

I was reading in pb2x and they got a sneak peak at the nerve and new shocker.

I dont have it in front of me but I think the nerve is going to retail more than the shocker. I have 2 problems with this

1. they say closed bolt is more accurate, which we know is complete BS, anways if you claim that it is more accurate why do you put it on your cheaper gun, shocker, and not on your more expensive model, nerve?

2. I think you the nail on the head about the nerve, its a factory fixed impulse. pretty milling and a nice trigger and a little lower preasure, again why? to sell guns.

I think its funny when folks dump thier guns for the new smart parts products. Do any of you remmeber when the first shocker came out? What a hunk of crap. Smart Parts customer support sucks and so does there QC.

But for those of you who spend more time reading about guns on the net and less time playing I am sure a gun that works only half as much as it is hyped will enjoy these new markers.

ohh, BTW I will be in the classified forum buying your old guns dirt cheap so you can buy this new crap

Edit: Just for future refrence SP is introducing 2 new markers which is pretty insane. remember it took WDP 2 full years to develpoe its First lcd and 18 months for the IR3.
