We realize we are sinners and are unholy. Its through God's grace and mercy, the sacrifice of his son on the cross which we are saved. Without Jesus' sinless life and death we would be unable to be saved.

That passage makes me think about how everything which occurs to me has a greater purpose to the Lord. Its great when I feel that bad things are happening. You can pray to the Lord to ask him to reveal areas of sin in your life. And upon praying to God to reveal sin in my life it usually hits me. The Lord truly is loving.
Great explanation and very true. It serves as a source of comfort and anchor in times of trouble for me.

It has both applications. I think he just doesn't understand 1. Maybe you can explain both?

You capitalized "he," but I'm going to assume that it was a typo and you don't really think 'Kill me.the King' is God.

As I've been brought up to regard the word "fear" when used in this context, I've learned that it has less to do with fright or being scared and much more with being awestruck and humbled by God's immense power, love, and role in your life. However, it is true that the word still retains some of its traditional meaning because His power and/or judgment after your passing is something to be respected in the utmost.

A verse about love on Valentine's Day? Get outta here!

This word, love, always brings back memories of reading John and being dumbfounded as to how straight forward Jesus defined love in action:

John 14:15 - "If you love Me, keep My commandments.

Obedience = love. How did you show you love your parents when they asked you to take out the trash? By giving them a kiss and going outside to play? Nope. By obeying.

It is always a verse that convicts me.

Ah. What a source of comfort. It makes my heart be at peace knowing that problems, worries, aches and hurts are healed and handled by God.

It also illustrates the love and work of Jesus. In the NT we see Him openly inviting all who follow Him:

Matt. 11:28-30
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

And in the OT, the work and sacrifice it took for us to have the liberty and openness:

Isaiah 53:3-5
3 He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

Thank you Jesus for your work. Thank you because it was out of Love for me and thank you because I didn't deserve it.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Deuteronomy 31:6

Deuteronomy 31:6
And if I may add on to yours. We were just talking about this with the Krew yesterday:
Joshua 1:7-9
7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.
8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

Good stuff in here!

Morning everyone.
Verse of the day.
2 John 1:6
6And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

I never paid attention to this verse and now I see how clearly it explains John 14:15!

Whoa.

Since I have already accompanied John 14:15 previously, here is another passage that puts things in perspective:

James 1:22-25
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;
24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

God clearly demonstrates that He wants us to live by His standards and not our own. Man's POV is still man's.

I also happen to like this verse as well...
1 Peter 4:8
Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.

See you in the middle!

Good Morning! IDK if I'm jumping the gun on Dre's thread, but I wanted to share 1 passage with you guys:

Psalms 139:2-6
2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.
3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.
5 You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.
