Question short stroking?

okay, ive been wondering about this for quite a while now, and i want to know exactly what a short stroke is. could someone explain it to me? what exactly is happening with the trigger? i would assume that this is when one fails to pull the trigger back all the way, but i cannot for the life of me understand why that would cause a problem with the gun. someone? help? please?
the door is open

Its when you dont completely pull and release the trigger... A trigger pull is one complete pull and release. Different things happen during the trigger pull at different stages (it varies for each gun) and if you dont do each one in the correct sequence you mess things up and balls get chopped.

like Grand said, it varies from gun to gun. The Mag i used to have dosn't break balls. I would even short stroke a few dozen times and not break a single ball.
