DM4 Hybrid bolt guide and horrible efficiency

Hi guys,

I got this DM4 that came with a Hybrid bolt guide. Tried playing with it last weekend but the efficiency was horrible. I had 3000 psi in a 68/45 tank and got only 300 shots out of it before the tank was empty.

No leaks and it shoots consistantly, just uses way too much air. I have cleaned everything, lubed everything, bolt moves when I flick it, LPR is at 3.5, dwell at 18.

I'm starting to think I need different settings for the Hybrid bolt guide than I do for a regular guide. Tried it a while ago with the original guide and it seemed to shoot just fine (gauge wasn't going down as fast either). Never had a Hybrid bolt guide before so any help is appreciated.

Thanks guys

One time deal.
I took the bolt out after I got home, cleaned everything, tried adjusting some of the settings but the difference can be seen from the tanks pressure gauge. It uses so much air that the gauge is dropping down with almost every shot, tried the same with stock bolt guide and the problem goes away.

Easy fix would be to use the stock bolt guide but I would like to use the hybrid since it's no tools removal and matches my gun perfectly.

I think you should lower the dwell with the bolt guide in, im not positive though.

I tried it with the dwell at 15.

I'd like to get advice from people who actually have used the Hybrid bolt guide on a DM4 themselves.

i had the bolt guide on my dm4, with the efficiency sleeve and with settings similar to yours i was getting 2 pods and almost a hopper off of a 45/4500 filled to 3000 and with my 70/4500 filled to 3 i could get 4 pods and a hopper. So you should be getting roughly 3 pods and a hopper with your 68.

My initial thought was you might have a leak somewhere, very faint that you are not hearing or else your tank gauge may be messed up.

Just wondering if there was any dry firing in there because that empties the tank really quick with the dm4's.

primetimejr what settings where you using?

Tank gauge is fine. Like I said it works ok with the regular bolt guide, only get problems when using the Hybrid. I changed both 9's and 20 o-rings. A tech from DYE suggested it might leak during the firing sequence, but it would leak with the regular bolt guide as well. My HPR is also set correctly
Something mysterious going on

i was using my dm4 with an lpr setting of about 3.25-3.75 (depending on the temp outside) and a dwell of 18 with abs on.

If the gauge is fine then i can only think that you must have a leak somewhere or multiple leaks because your efficiency is horrible.

Also, how much dry firing did you do with it in getting those 300 shots?

You think that your not tightening it enough? I have one on my Dm4 and i still tighten it with a key most times. Have you tried that?

I basically have the same problem with my PM6 and my hybrid bolt guide. I filled my 45/45 to 4000 and got around 350 shots out of it.

when i had a minion (like a pm6) i used to get 4 pods and half a hopper off of a 4000 fill on my 45/4500 (i also had the hybrid guide on that).

All i can recommend is to check for leaks, re-lube everything and just keep seeing if it is continuous or just a random occurrence. Also, is the pm6 new and broken in yet?

tune your gun the way it says in the sticky's. I bought a gun off of somebody on pbn and it came with stock settings and was getting like 500 shots off of a 68/45. So I changed o-rings, cleaned and relubed everything and tuned my gun to right settings and now i'm getting around 1000 shots.

I changed the o-rings, relubed everything with sleek, the bolt moves when I flick it, LPR is set, HPR is set, dwell is at 18, abs is on setting 5

this chart might help you not only for this but in the long-run.

i would recheck the stem o-rings, 009. I remember a few people had to go up to 010's on the bolt stem so you might wanna try that.
