I don't know what board you're using, but if it's the WAS board it will think the eyes are blocked and turn them off.
If you block the eyes, and pull the trigger, and eye logic expects the bolt to go forward and then back again and to see a break when it does. If it doesn't see it, then it thinks the eyes are blocked and turns them off.
At the same time, the WAS boards have been having all kinds of issues with them. I'm on board #5 now...
