Other than Georgia, LSU is regarded by most as the most academic and challenging public school in the SEC. LSU is currently striving to change that.

Its ALOT tougher than ppl give LSU credit for. ND might be academically better because of the level of intelligence it takes to get there and get high grades there, BUT, LSU is likely the TOUGHER school. ND and most other private schools are small, have much more caring professors, and don't have the kind of distractions that LSU does. You have HUGE classes at LSU, professors don't give a **** if you fail or even attend class. and there's literally a party every night. LSU is described as a school that, if you want it to be easy, it can be, but it can also be a much tougher school to do well at once you factor in all the other things. ND students pretty much agree that, after football season, there isn't much to do there. Theres ALWAYS something to do at LSU so its really not easy when you are surrounded by all the distractions and temptations, whereas, at Harvard or Yale or ND, you aren't nearly as much.

Yea but to argue that LSU is more difficult than Harvard or any other schools of that caliber (Yale, Princeton, Chicago, UCB, Stanford, Cal Tech) is kind of wrong. Sure there is a wide range of effort at LSU but getting the highest grade in your LSU classes is easier than getting your highest grade at Harvard because its full of geniuses. LSU is still by all means a respectable school.

Vandy is Private. We are talking public schools.

And I didn't say that LSU was on par academically with Harvard or Yale. But with the atmosphere that LSU has, it could be considered TOUGHER. Ever been in a class where you are one of the few smart ones and like the rest of the class is keeping you from really excelling. That's how it is at LSU. Harvard and Yale don't allow any opportunities for people to fall behind and bring a class down because they don't let in anyone who has that capability. Theres hardly anyone at Harvard or Yale that doesn't deserve to be there, and they don't really kick kids out because they don't need to. LSU, on the other hand, fails out a good number of kids because the are not fit to be there. ND is probably one of the only Top Tier schools that is a big football school. Harvard and Yale have teams, but you can't compare SEC schools to Ivy League when it comes to football and the distractions that comes with it.

I know I'm probably not really explaining it that well. I actually saw it from your point of view when I got into this debate with my dad. He explained it to me. Trust me, he knows exactly what he is talking about. He went to Columbia and LSU.

Exactly, LSU can be a really easy school or the hardest school ever. Depends on what you put into it, what classes you take, and most of all what kind of motivation you have and the amount of self control.

Actually UF would be the leading SEC public school... and it doesn't hurt to be the National Champions in football AND basketball.
