Problem with SN leaking from Barrel
My SN leaks from the Barrel when I put the safety on. There is a small hiss when the safety is off. I have tried lubing it up but that does not seem to work. Everything on the SN is stock, the only thing that I use that is special is an HPA bottle. I am thinking new o-rings but am not sure where to start replacing. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you
Anthony

Part of the Supe Nova leak is fixed
I replaced the front 2 orings on the spool valve. That stopped the gun from leaking while it is aired up but it still leaks down the barrel when the trigger is depressed and held. The size I used is: width=3/32" ID=1/4" OD=7/16" They are made of Buna-n. I was not really sure exactly what size to use, these seemed to be very close to the size that was currently on the gun. Again Thank you for any information you guys may be able to give.

As long as it doesn't leak while the bolt system is at rest, you should be just fine.

this would be true except if I break a ball I have to disconnect my air supply then take off the barrel and clean it. Otherwise when I turn the safety on and take off the barrel air will continue to leak out of the gun. Also I would rather fix the problem than just use the gun like it is, this way I do not cause more problems. Thank you for your thoughts on the subject.

Well, leaks are caused by bad seals (obviously), and while I could very likely help you if I had the gun in front of me, I'm not sure anyone will be able to online like this.

Castro, thank you for the help I guess I was hoping this was a common problem with any easy fix. I think I am going to do some more research on the orings needed for this gun and make sure all of mine are correct and in great condition

Try replacing your barrel o-rings. It could be air leaking around them that you hear. Also what are you lubing your barrel with? You should be useing grease of some kind on the barrel o-rings.

I will try lubing up the barrel, but I am not so sure what it is. The gun only leaks when the trigger is pulled back. When the safety is on for example or if I just hold the trigger back with my finger. I can turn on the safety, pull off the barrel, and the gun still leaks. My first thoughts were of the spool valve. But the orings on that are in good shape.
I am thinking about the trigger assembly but I am not sure exactly what to replace. Also the gun does not leak from between the pistle grip and the main body.
I have also considered maybe the spring behind the spool valve is a bit weak, but I am not sure how to tell, or what would happen if i would replace it with a stronger spring.
Thanks Again Guys for your help, I am more than willing to give anything a try.

I'd be willing to take a look at it for you, as a Master Airsmith. I'll admit I haven't ever worked on a Nova before, but it is very likely a similar spool design to what is used today in another gun. While I can't guarantee a fix (since I have no idea about the availability of replacement parts for this gun) I'll do my best to identify and single out the issue at the VERY least, leaving you to find your parts.
I know teching guns by mail isn't something that everyone is wild about, so I understand if you're unwilling. On the other hand, having such a rare gun that works is pretty brag-worthy, but that means it has to work, of course.

I was thinking backwards. The barrel isn't pressureized when the trigger is pulled so it wont be that. It could be in the trigger assy or the spool. Try putting the safety on and take off the barrel. Put some water on the spool face and see where it bubbles.
The spool spring probably isn't the problem because the early novas didn't have them. If you take the trigger assy out be careful. There are a lot of small parts. also the trigger sleeve has double set screws. You have to get both of them out before the sleeve will come out.

I am pretty sure It is the spool valve, which means the new orings I bought are worthless. I will have to try to figure out which ones I need. I noticed another post stating which orings go where on a SN but I have not been able to figure out how the numbers given in the post work. They are not on any oring packs I have seen. What am I missing? Here is a link

Castro thanks for the offer, I will see what I can do before sending the gun off to be fixed. The way things are going this may be my best bet

Ah, that will help you immensely. The three digit number refers to the size of the o-ring, and the other number (70 or 90 in many cases) refers to the durometer (stiffness/toughness) of the o-ring. That list will help you to find o-rings on hardware websites and such. I think you've nearly solved your own problem. Replace all of your internal o-rings, and I'd bet you've got it fixed.
