You might want to bold the part about mobo stand offs, its an extremely easy thing to miss.
Also you might want to post a small sentence of order for which drivers to install first, as mobo, gpu, etc.
If you ever feel like getting in depth, you could explain hooking up the front panel, that was a doosy! (Manual wasn't super-clear)

I am looking to build a computer so I can use that when I don't feed like using my laptop.
My question is what is the average price to build one? The only things I would want above average would be the processor and a bit more RAM then needed. Everything else doesn't matter much to me.

True. It all depends on how much you're willing to spend and what you will be using the computer for.

when building my first comp, i didn't use a guide, i kind of just followed some directions that came with the mobo, the rest if just putting things where it looks like they fit. Sounds easy huh? actually thats what i thougt after another 200 dollars in new parts and trying to repair, i would definatly recommend guides. I tried looking at guides online for my friend, none are really good. :thumbs up: with this guide!

I have a question about a PC I just ordered. After assembling, I run into a problem. Every time I start my PC the monitor does not start up. With the CD-Rom hooked up to the IDE cable it locks up the drive, and the hard drive turns on and just runs. I figure I need to put the motherboard CD in, but since the CD-Rom locks up, I can't. Thanks for any help, it's late and I'm frustrated.

I figured I'd post this here. I already built my computer, about 2.5 years ago (so my specs are pretty ancient), and I decided that I wanted 2gb of memory. My (old) mobo supports a max of 2, 1gb sticks of pc3200 ddr; one on each channel.
Idk how relevent any of this is. I put the memory in, plugged in my psu, turned it on, and tried to boot my computer. Nothing happened. I look and see smoke coming out of the rear fan of my psu (outside of the case).
I'm under the impression that I burned out my power supply at some point. Like I said, the computer is 2.5 years old, and it's been on 24 hours/almost everyday. However, when I plug in the computer and turn on the psu, the light on my mobo turns green indicating it's getting power. Is it possible that the supply is still screwed up and it just can't power the rest of the motherboard?
It's a 420w ATX12v raidmax if that helps at all.
