You don't like the UL grips and frame?
How about the smoothness of each and other qualities you liked and disliked in each.

I just think the etek has a nicer feel to it. I think on the pmr I got maybe half a case maybe a little more off a 70/45 and around for the etek around 1300 or more which isn't important to most people but the two fields i go to are 45mins away and the other is 1 1/2 hours away so. Of course cleaning the etek is a whole lot nicer. I mean the pmr is about the same weight it just shoots smoother and takes longer to clean and less shots. For me it was I needed a gun that would not break down wasn't a pain to lube and clean and shot alot on a fill so the etek was perfect for me. But if you don't really care about those things then the pmr is the way to go. Smoother shot quiet if your playing woods ball. To me between the two it looks like a whole lot more quality went into the etek. Your best bet would be to just shoot both and try to decide. But for me I will never feel sorry for going with the etek.

I wish I could. There is a ton of snow where I live and have no idea where the closest indoor field is..
Closest field for me is like 45- an hour away. Unlimited fill so shots per fill doesnt really matter. How easy it is to clean is a plus, but also how loud and smooth it is kinda matters. I just can't decide! Im driving myself crazy here

Hahaha! Forgive me for laughing but I was in the exact same state. Only, I wasn't considering the PMR but a Spec-R. I just fixed my mind on the White and Black Etek. It looks hot, I've read up on it completely and it's supposed to shoot hot as well. Unfortunately it's going to take me at least a month to get it.

definitely etek3. i own a vice as well, which is better than the protege. the vice only beats the etek3 in terms of efficiency, weight, and coming stock with a full featured tadao board.
you get so much more for your money with the etek3.

Im stuck with the same problem. Etek 3 LT Or 2010 PMR.
But if i get the Etek 3 I would be most likely getting the Cure 3+ and Zick 2.
Can't decide and it sucks

Need advice on which gun to get
Hello PBers,
Semi newb paintball player(6 times to the field), mainly play private games, speedball and scenario. Lately I have been looking to get a new (well better really) gun. I have a MR1 Sniper so nothing great.
Looking for: Something to dominate my other goon friends (they all have A5 Tippmans), Light, accurate and reliable.
My questions are:
1) ETEK or EGO? I read from the forums that an ETEK is good but with all the ups it would be better to just get an EGO.
2) Would getting a used ETEK be better for me? Something like an ETEK 2 with some ups for about 350 sound like a deal?
3) If I do get a used gun and it does not work right, what are the typical costs in fixing a Planet Eclipse ETEK gun? Service Centers? I live in Los Angeles, CA USA.
4) I was looking at an ETEK 3 LT, but for some reason I can't justify buying a new Planet Eclipse gun at my level of paintballing. Of should I just go balls out because its a Planet Eclipse gun and I will be having fun with it anyways?
Thanks for the input everyone,

i have an etek3 lt and it's great. i immagine it is better than the etek2 even if i have never used one.. the etek3 is new and you will have warranty so you dont have to worry if it doesnt work, and you will get more money out of it when you'll sell it for a better marker.plus with a 40$ cure3+ it is perfect.
or you could get a used ego but it's used so it hasn't got warranty and if it doesnt work you have to fix it,
if i were you i would go for the etek3..

My two cents.

eteks and egos are just not the same markers, no matter how "upgraded" the etek may be. see the stickies that uziel took the time to write out and you should get the idea pretty quick. both are tremendous markers. there is def something to be said for picking up a marker that has never really been shot before, it is a great feeling that never gets old. i also find that whenever i get a new marker, or new to me, it makes me play more. the US PE center is in Rhode Island, but i can assure you that between the nation and your local shops, which i'm sure LA has lots of, there should be nothing you couldn't take care of

To do this you need skills, not a marker with a higher ROF and a better barrell.
To get skills you have to practice.
So what you really want is not a new marker, but more practice.
Now if you really want to upgrade your marker, the etek is a great choice. I've been using a stock etek1 for about 4 years now. I do everything from backyard woodsballing to speedball and the marker is great in every condition. As to what etek you want, well that mostly depends on your wallet. The etek3 seems to be very nice, and if I was in the market for a NIB marker, I'd probably get one.
The etek and etek2 are pretty much the same.
So, for what you are going to do with the marker, I think used etek or etek2 in good condition will be plenty.
BTW, if you are using a CO2 cylinder atm, you WILL want to upgrade to an HPA system, as the eteks (all of them) don't work on CO2...unless you do a twin regged set-up, but that is expensive and usually not worth it.
