Compare, contrast. Have at it. Typical rules apply, especially in regards to flaming.

This is the one thread allowed to compare guns.

Etek Vs Macdev Cyborg

I currently have both markers in my possesion at this very second!

Similaritys:
Body length is equal
Board programming is nearly equal (both are capped and uncapped
both rams are easily accesable
Breakbeam eyes
microswitch trigger
Both have awesome regulators

ETEK:
Way lighter
shoter bolt
lighter bolt
smaller profile
thinner frame
bigger trigger guard
better trigger (cyborg trigger is fat and wide)
guage-less
eye's are more flush with the body
feels egonomically correct to your hand (with and without gloves)
more milling
less width
rubber jewels
doesnt have a tray like the cyborg

Cyborg:
lpr can be adjusted by fingers
lpr controls fps
longer reg
made from a merlin extrusion
NO internal hoses (except 1 from the noid)
faster solenoid
can easily reach 30bps (its what its rated for)
LOW operating pressure
nearly ZERO kick
uses delrin/spring detents that dont wear out (unlike PE nubbins)
Bolt has a lower coefficient of friction (maclatron (SP?) )
Entire ram assembaly is easily removable and without tools
"centered feedneck" unlike the deflekt feed of the etek
less common

i like both markers equally. the etek fits like a glove, but the cyborg is like a sports car. i can go all out with the etek, but i can show of to random stangers what 30 BPS looks like with the cyborg.

they are both nice guns, but in all honesty i prefer the etek over the borg

So people will see this

my friend recently purchased a NXT shocker (dust black), and i recently got my Urban ETEK ego.

Similaritys:
~Kick: No joke, the kick is the same. my etek was just tuned by DGX in california. they really do kick the same (dryfiring and shooting paint)

~Reg placement: the regs are both forward from the frame to allow people whom wrap their hands around the reg to do so (unlike the horrid placement on the Dye markers)

The NXT
~Spool valve
~barely considered efficeint (H.E. is basically lies)
~Roller bearing trigger
~Set-screw holds trigger in
~internals are set with screws (no pins)
~Nice flow on the body (milling wise)
~Internals are oring dependant, and are difficult to remove
~Prone to FSDO
~Instant ON
~eye off on the fly (just barely tap the button)
~Uses ION reg (i think its kinda meh.. myself)
~Feedneck uses orings (we both hate this with a passion)
~Frame has a hump (not a very good hump either, its pointed in the center) (honestly i hate the frame)
~grips are the shocker grips, held in with 2 screws
~the grips do not mold to the body like PE grips do
~comes with NON-Purge asa stock
~you have to use a wrench to adjust the regulator
~Has a cool little snatch grip
~uses magnet for the trigger
~board is very limited (nerve board reminiscent)
~Impulse threaded (come on SP use a barrel thread most people have )
~Heavier than etek

ETEK
~stack tube
~better effiecientcy (not cyborg status, but reasonably close)
~Bearing-less trigger (come on Planet eclipse, people want/need bearing triggers)
~trigger holds pin in
~very bland body (keeps me from having to get out the Q-tips to clean)
~internals are less oring dependant
~Maintenance = peice of Cake
~uses very good reg (star)
~eyes have instant off too
~Clamping feedneck
~uses LPR
~Frame has no hump, and feels great in your hand
~Grips mold right up to the frame
~Purge ASA stock
~Kick-*** metal case... Stock!
~Autococker threaded (thank god, who has imp barrels anyway)
~board is limited, but alteast has PSP useable ramping
~Spring return its awesome and feels much smoother
~much lighter than NXT shocker

My opinion:
The nxt is nice if you like spool valve markers, and you have $699, but if you want to squeze every last bit of performance from your hard earned $699 you should buy the etek ego

NXT shocker: 8.6/10
frame ergonomics =
maintenance =

ETEK ego: 9.1/10
lack of bearing trigger

thats my review!

Rail. If you have to ask this question, you really do not deserve an ETek.

I have actually owned both!

Promaster:
Hump frame
Clamshell style frame
extremely light trigger
has more uncapped modes
has spring/delrin detents
threaded feedneck
quite light (lighter than a stock ion)
LPR is so..so (uses a quarter to adjust it, yes i mean the coin)
reg is hit or miss (some leak straight out of the box)
uses a QEV on the ram
stock barrel is .... meh

ETek:
Thinner frame
less width (the promaster frame is very wide )
the frame is rounded "edges" (promaster frame is square edged)
smoother trigger
more user friendly
Way lighter than the promaster
LPR is much better
the internals are truly Electo pnuematic (the promaster uses a spring to push the ram forward)
the bolt is smaller
the bolt pin doesnt scrape on the body, unlike the promaster
Great stock barrel, that is actually overbore
there are no threads for the feedneck to strip out
it comes with on/off and macroline stock
MUCH better stock regulator
much smoother internals
ram cap doesnt protrude from the body
milling is nicer
less oring sealing issues
etek does not have a warning label inprinted in the frame (it makes the promaster frame look ugly)
the stock grips are of bettter quality, and have a better feel
the customer sevice is better, and the owners manual is better

i had the promaster a year ago, it was a fun little gun for the money. it blows the other low range guns away. but basically this comes down to.... you get what you pay for!

and i much prefer my etek over the promaster i had

i dont actually have a dm6 but i have shot one...

dm6 and etek comparison
Ul frame is the one real advantage imo
ul barrel is better then eteks but with leftover money get a SLY kit
spool valve meaning smoother shooting then etek
no kick and the etek has little to no kick
quiet and etek is louder but who cares
light but etek maybe lighter
hyper2 but eteks is just as good
exspensive compared to etek
harder to matinance then etek
less reliable then etek

with the money left from not getting dm6 you can get new barrel/kit bolt trigger frame rammer and make it better then a dm

i did the best i could without actually owning a dm6....hope i helped

Thanks alot.
Yeah I figured with the 250 or so I would have to add ontop of my Etek for a DM6 trade I could get a star frame and maniac board and a new barrel and maybe a cure bolt and then have a rockin gun.
