legend vs. closer (sounds stupid, i kno)
which is quieter, more air efficent, smaller, more accurate, lighter, and
gives you more bang for your buck

the legend is in no way slow. it will cycle at over 30 bps, and it can shoot about 25 bps. the trigger is better on the legend due to its foward swept blade style.
dm's arent exactly that light either.i think the legend looks more comfortable to hold because of the space between the reg and the frame.
maintanence and trouble shooting is easier on the legend. all you have to do is unscrew the ram housing, pull it out and the ram, lube one oring, put ram and housing back in. and your done. got a leak? check the ram oring or the cupseal on the poppet and your done.
the dm: take out the bolt, unscrew the fuse bolt, clean a bunch of lube, lube alot of orings. if you have a leak or some problem, you have some 10 orings to check.

why dont you actually know what your talking about before reviewing
i do know what im talking about, you really cant bring the trigger into this cause not everyone likes the same trigger thats why they make aftermarket one , re-read the F***ing post i said the dm6-8 are the same just lighter, i said they are less efficient, guns comfortablyity depends on the person, re-read the post again if you cant take 10 mins. out of your life to clean your gun (about the time it took me to clean my dm) you shoudn't play paintball, if you dont screw around with a dm you dont get leaks but when i couldn't find the leak i would take it to the pro-shop and they would fix it for free so i never had a problem with that

^^^ wow dude.. omfg all he is trying to do is to point to u that a legend is easier to maintain... we r not bashing on the ****ing matrix.. we r just saying in the tournament cases.. u dont have a complete 10 minutes to clean ur gun.. also u said it urself.. (and yes i can read) that if u have a leak u go to ur proshop! ... wow.. that is a hell of a deal... legend is cheaper.. smoothness isnt really an issue... bps race is over cuz psp capped at 13.3 now... get over it....

I own an HK legend and shot a closer many times.
Closer is much more quieter.
They are about the same on air and and really after paint and tank they weigh about the same. HK legend is little bit lighter with out tank and hopper.
accuracy really is based on paint to bore so not gonna touch up on that they both shoot accurate like most guns are now adays.
Bang for your buck i would say is the legend because its alot cheaper.
I would shoot the closer any day over the legend but lately I have never broken a single paint on the legend and closers seems to be picky on paint.

iv been shooting my pals closer recently and im a huge fan of the inline poppet design

that said, for some reason i always go back to my legend .... it just shoots and shoots and shoots and never goes down

that and my new gloss legend is damn sexy

the droid is in many was superior to the shocker

Better reg ... better board ... better sealing chamber system (MUCH more efficient) ... better stock barrel ... comes with a clamping feedneck ... among others

Compared to the legend .... its really hit or miss

They both come with great stock regs .... they both come with great stock boards ... they both get great efficiency

The stock barrel on the legend may need replacing if thats your style ... though i have found it to shoot pretty dang decent

On the droids side ... its smaller ... and feels "smoother" if you will

On the legends side ... its less maintenance intensive ... only one o-ring

So basically decide for yourself .... if you've always been a fan of spoolers (shockers, matrices, etc) you might like the feel of the droid - on the converse (egos, timmies, angels, etc) you might like the legend

Both are great markers and come with all the good stuff you need to play national tournaments out of the box and both have great CS and support their product

I don't know too much about the f8, but I have had the chance to see some DP guns that my teammates had, and they struck me as having some quality issues. The milling and everything looked nice, but the finish and materials were kind of weak.. finish wearing off, easily stripped threads, parts getting bent, that kind of stuff. The legends are rock solid, true "function before form" guns.

Do you like spoolies vs. poppets?
Do you like very smooth, vs. more crack-y shots?
Do you mind doing a fair amount, vs. basically no maintenance?
Do you like the feel of the UL frame vs. traditional .45?
Do you want to spend 1400, vs. 700?

IMHO DMs haven't made any huge leaps and bounds since the DM4, aside from size and weight. I have and love a DM5, and a Legend too. They are both great platforms. You just have to decide what your personal priorities are when it comes to the above.

If you're buying new, in my opinion the DM8 is worth nowhere near twice the Legend's price.

^^ the etek 2 not only is it much like the original etek... but its also better than it... those little thins that make it a number 2... if wanna spend about the same amount of money on the etek 2 and legend... get the legend( in my opinion). The etek is a cheaper ego...the etek has a fatter and wider back tail than the original EGO.. hence not much difference... legend is the original with no downfalls... cheaper ego w/ cheaper parts vs. legend w/ high grade parts that wont break as easy as other high ends./... all in all.. do the math... which one u feel more confy with.. and there.. cuz remember dude u will b the one owning the gun... im just the nerd who does the research.. lol.. hope i helped.. gl finding ur gun.!
