What is lacking in this thread, and seems very strange that no one has brought it up, is WHY Delta is parting with sponsors.

I do agree that when a team gets sponsorhip its their responsibility to put that out there. Part of sponsorship.

When you part ways, however, with a sponsor it seems very illogical to post unless you are noting who is replacing them or an explanation of why. I'm left wondering if Delta chose to leave their sponsors, or if Delta did something the sponsors didn't like and they cut Delta off? If sponsors left Delta, it doesn't make sense to post. If Delta left them, there must have been a problem, and it seems logical to note that, or not post at all.

Without any explanation, I'm left either thinking that this is a pointless post (which is fine if you're into that sort of thing) OR it's a veiled attack on the 4 companies that are no longer Delta sponsors without being too overt about it.

If there are solid reasons for leaving those companies, then perhaps other teams should know what issues they have so they will not bother seeking or accepting sponsorship from them, so why not say why sponsorship has been suspended?

There you have it. If YOU would like to know more, then PM me. I have anwsered all questions like yours via PM in respect for the companies.

With that, I dont know how much you know about sponsors, but every team signs a differnt contract with a company depending on how well known they are, their experience, etc... I will anwser your questions if you PM me.

Cheers

It's not tasteless. It's called promotion. If a company sponsors a team for the season, posting the announcements on the forums is the first step a team can take to show that they will take the relationship seriously and promote the company's products throughout the season. Something tells me that this announcement is merely preceding some sort of big announcement from Delta about a new sponsorship that they will be signing for 2007. I don't know this for a fact, but I have my suspicions because Delta as a team is pretty savvy when it comes to marketing and promotions.
