I still have a nice blanket of snow here, which is covering the ice (Which is pretty thick) nicely. I had to go to the Post Office here (Mailman didn't actually knock on my door to deliver my new laptop... ), which is not that far away, but I would not have driven anywhere else if I had not been waiting so long for the laptop. Should have just walked, but then I would have missed all of the cars that are stuck on the side of the road . I feel for anyone that actually has to go to school in this stuff. Or even work...

I was born here in the NW. What I don't understand is how people in this area
freakout on the roads over so little snow. Closures of schools and businesses
after 4" of snow. Late openings do to causes of traffic safety.
I've driven through the Mid-West during this time of year, holy f-ing ****.
Yet friends of mine in Nebraska go right on with life in 2' (feet)of snow.
I lived in Montreal for 7 months. 3 months out of the year the snow drifts were on
average 6', while the city maintained a 4' snow pack[depth of snow not plowed].
So I just don't understand how the majority of NW'er fear this time of year.
'It's very mild'.
I'll still do 60mph in this weather, but 40mph while the road is clear?
Just remember to stay out of the inside lane, and I wont have to tap ur back bumper.
/rant
Exception for M-man. I'd have to use my windshield to hit his bumper

The northwest isn't used to the snow because it usually never snows here and if it does it is only around 1".. You can't compare where you live now where it snows all the time whereas in the NW it doesn't. I mean you said it yourself, your used to big amounts of snow. People don't freak out, it's just that people aren't experienced with the weather that is why traffic is slow, businesses closing, schools closing, etc. Also I think people in Nerbraska own more 4x4's than people here in the northwest with their small cars.

I live in Portland, I have most my life. 30
Montreal for 7 months
So-Cal for 9 months
Fairbanks 2 months
I drive a Pale Orange 91 Eclipse, Sky Blue 62 Dodge Cornet, and a white Ford Dual wheel rear axle 18' box truck for work.
Winter of 03 in PDX we had record snowfall. It was the first year I owned my Eclipse.
We rallied threw the hole winter. I gave her a new suspension after that.
Maybe I'm just nutz, maybe I'm not affraid, or both!
That record snowfall equaled 4"

Yeah, I can understand. I moved to Washington from Kentucky, and I lived in Utah for a year as well. This is fun stuff to drive in. Although I don't drive as fast as you, we have about an inch of so worth of ice underneath the snow here.
