Proposed PMR sub-forum: Data and support, Mods please consider

First of all I would like to say thank you to any Mods or Admins for taking the time to read this. I know you guys are busy and have a lot on your plates. I also feel it is our duty as the user to help out with the site whenever possible.

It is with that in mind that I propose a new sub-forum for posts regarding the PMR or Proto Matrix Rail. The Rail debuted over the weekend at World Cup and the Matrix forum is already experiencing an influx of Rail posts. The Matrix forum is already cluttered as it is and with the addition of the Rail, the forum is in danger of being flooded with posts.

In addition to reducing clutter in the forum, the creation of a sub-forum for the PMR will aid users searching for specific information and will deliver said information efficiently and effectively. While built on the Matrix platform, the PMR is quite a different gun. Unlike all previous models before it, the PMR lacks an LPR and its bolt system is almost unrecognizable as a Matrix bolt. The argument could be made that if the Etek Ego has its own forum, so should the PMR.

On 11/15 I posted a thread in the Matrix forum asking users if they would like to see a PMR sub-forum. Less than 24 hours later the results are clear. As of 11/16, 8am PST out of 160 users who voted, 126 or 78.75% of them would indeed like to see a sub-forum for the PMR. Included in the 'Yes' vote was none other than Matrix forum Moderator 'gremlin75'.

That thread can be found here: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=1853470

I understand that similar suggestions have been made in the past to no avail. However with the release of the Rail and the already noticeable increase in Rail threads, the time to implement is now. I feel the arguments for the creation of the sub-forum are strong and there is a large backing from Rail owners and non-owners alike.

Please take my suggestion into consideration. Again, I know you guys have a lot going on and that a new forum is always something you want to consider carefully. But in the long run, I truly feel it would benefit everyone involved.

*** To all posters, this is a PRO PMR sub-forum thread. The burden lies on us, the supporters to make a case for the sub-forum. Therefore there is no need to post negative comments about the proposed new forum. For further discussion on the proposed forum, please go here: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=1853470

Thanks!

Update: As of 12/01, 504 users have voted in the posted poll. Of those 504 users, 404 or 80.16%, have voted in favor of a PMR specific sub-forum.

Thank you for posting. We are considering the requests for a Proto forum. However, we're in the middle of an upgrade to new software and more equipment, and that currently takes priority. Once that is completed, we'll make a decision on adding a Proto forum.

There's already a huge amount of traffic for it on the DM/PM forums, which is only going to get bigger. On top of that it is a significant departure in both firing system and electrical design from the current FUSE style guns. Essentially, the only similarity between a PMR and any other PM is the name on the box (PM7 board similarities aside).

I really don't see what the debate is here.

Yes please, a new Rail forum would help deliver info fast without upsetting the other Dye members who arent the nicest to new players who seek lower end guns

Good luck with the new equip...

I want to see a PMR forum, i have been trying hard in the last 2 day to compile a sticky for the PMR, to cut down on some of the repeat threads that were being made.

Also, do you have any body in mind for being a mod?
If not i would love to take that on...
I am 2k2, knowledgeable in trixs, and rarely cause problems, i also enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

thanks in advance,
corey

Guys,

As we've said before, we have no plans at the moment for a separate PMR forum.

This could change in the future, but for now, we don't feel that it is needed. The hype will die down and you all will eventually learn to live together.

Allowing the hype to die down most probably will not occur. When I say this I am thinking of the Ion forums and how flame filled and cluttered there forums are and thats with out it being in the shocker forum too. If the Ion deserves its own thread why not the PMR ???

It isn't a matter of "deserving" anything. We are revising the policy by which we create new forums for markers. As it stands right now, if a marker operates based on the same principle as another marker, it does not get its own forum.

This is why the ION, Epiphany, and the SP-8 share a forum. This is why the DM4-DM7, PMs and PMR will share a forum.

but the PMR is not based off of the other DM/PM's operation. It has a different bolt design and no lpr.

I don't want to get into an argument at all, but I just want to voice my opinion.

I do believe the Rail should have its own sub forum. There will be three totally different populations under the DYE forum. The populations of the Vintage matrix (which operates very similar to DMs and PMs yet has its own sub forum), DM/PMs, and Rails.

Despite there similarities, the Rail crowd will not care much at all about DM/PMs and vise versa. Therefore, keeping the Rail in the DM/PM forum will create a confusing and annoying mix of threads.

My two cents. Don't smite me o' powerful ones.
