JKW, to my understanding, recessed the center of the stock bolt and attached the flat part of a rubber detent to the middle. There are pics of this mod somewhere in past threads. The one that Bob is working on has a much larger and softer pad. I believe the hold up is finding the appropriate material for the foam padding that will hold up to repeated use.

I think the one I saw was more of a open face bolt with a softpad in the middle

That's the one. If I didnt have faith that this new bolt was coming out, I would have taken a drill to mine.
