It maybe a resource hog but it makes surfing the site much easier. Remember there’s still more 56k or slower users out here then there is high speed internet users.

Hmm, okay, after some effort at navigating using just the -->--->-- at the top and bottom of the pages, it's not so bad. So I suppose if you could just streamline that system a bit I'll be able to get by.

nope! most other high volume sites have also killed it because in order to do it it requires some overly complicated sql queries.

vb3 will be out "real soon now", and its going to have lots of new features you guys will love.

the back button on your browser is your new best friend

I'm on a 56k, it used to take me 20 minutes to surf the three forums I regularly visit. Without the scroll it takes me a good 40 minutes, because I have to wait for twice as many pages to load.

I know it was taken away for a "good reason," but to me the reason wasnt worth it.

i'll work on setting up a static list in the time being, but the dynamic database driven one isn't coming back.

i realize its sort of a hassle, but if i can prevent load on my db server, i'm gonna do it...

Yea but my web design teacher told me that good sites are suppose to keep the end user from having to use the browsers features.

by that logic, you should format all the hard drives and then unplug every wire on it. to prevent load on the server, of course.

Removing the scroll bar hasnt helped much. If anything people have to load even more pages. Wouldnt that slow the site even more?

theres a difference between loading a page and loading a resource intensive page.

believe me i wouldnt have removed it if i didnt have to, and im working on a new solution.

I don't know JJC is rather busy all the time. But any ways I'm not going to argue with you Pbnation doesn't have the resources available to them like a college would.

I don't know how considering ever computer on campus homepage is JJC, people are logging onto the site for online classes and jjc also hosts student webs which has 16 different class on it with anywhere form 10 - 20 students constantly doing their homework either at their house, work or school.

I understand I don't even compare to your knowledge of web design and management. I just hope this new solution you’re working on is good because this is the only PB message board that seems to be functioning 85% of the time or better.

just for the record, last month we averaged 5 million hits a day. I went to school at RIT, which has 13,000 students and they were only averaging about 2 mill a day.

not that it matters.
