07 Scepter info
So I've emailed Powerlyte about the 07 Scepter kits and this is what they told me:
" The new Scepter should be available around the end of October or early November. The new case mold took a little longer than we expected causing us to push the release back a little.
Along with the 07' Scepter kit we have a whole new line of products for 07'. Our website is in the process of being completely overhauled and should be complete around the time we release the Scepter.
These are the new Scepter features and pricing.
Available in 12", 14"', & 16" lengths.
Tip colors - Gloss Black, G Blue, G Red, Dust Black (Many more colors will become available)
Rear Colors - Gloss Black & Dust Black (Other colors will be determined by demand.)
The Case can hold a combination of 3 fronts and/or rears, and all 7 inserts. Kits will be available in 3, 5 & 7 bore models.
Prices
3-Bore - $109.95
5-Bore - $124.95
7-Bore - $139.95 "
Just thought all the other scepter fan-boys like myself would like to know!

Are they still the 6" inserts or smaller? The pic leads me to believe they are smaller.

Smaller. Pics support this and I remember reading (somewhere) that they are indeed smaller.

I'm still trying to decide whether I should even bother with a new kit or if I should just pickup an old scepter kit again. I had one a while ago and I sorely regret selling it.

Somehow I knew we wouldnt get these till Nov. My guess is more of Mid. Nov too. I'll probably pick up a 3 or 5 bore kit though.

Just go for 3 bore since that's all you're really going to need... I only use like 2 out of 5 on my kit.

Why would they make the inserts and backs shorter. I was under the impression the old length was perfect. I heard the longer the better. I loved my old kit, damn why did I sell it.

Personally, I'd love to see a Scepter type system with 8" inserts, but everyone seems to be in love with small tubes. What I'd heard was that there were issues beyond the realm of fixing that forced the move to the short inserts.

Does anybody know what the shorter inserts will do for the barrel performance wise. Better or worse?

I cant see them going with a design that would be worse than their current.

I always wondered, what are the inserts made out of and are the coated with anything to make them smoother seeing as how aluminium has tiny pits even when microhoned?

Yea true about that. The inserts do have like wave looking down it but it shoots fine so I cant complain. The did say that it's military quality polished or watever. Not sure which part they polish though....

Well by the look and how the system works I'd say they are the same as Empires revolver kit. The inserts appear to have the same system as the old spector kit but shorter like the new spector series.
I am somewhat upset about the deal, first I have the spector kit and I like it, but I need now a cocker back, which they don't sell. Now they are going to a new system which I would once again have to dish out to much money for. Whole idea of the first purchase was that I could keep the kit and just switch backs
OOooh well, maybe time to get a stiffi.

Having shorter backs will most likely reduce efficiency, and may detract from accuracy as well. I suspect they went with shorter backs because the kit will be cheaper to make.

I do find it hard to believe that, MerrSonn, from my dealings with powerlyte: they're not out to scam you, they make good quality products with pride
