This thread is pretty much a waste of time, the aka guys could be out shootin the alien while jack or a alien owners could have been makeing a video proving it instead of sitting here trying to make a point to one another.

Some one make a video using paintballs with half the shell one color and the other half another color then slow it down and we will beable to tell if the ball has any backspin to it. If it does the sweep technolgy is proven accurate if not the sweep technolgy is proven inaccurate.

I'm sorry, but when someone makes a fairly far-out claim like Jack does, it's really his job to prove it, not ours to disprove it. The fact that the only evidence he sites are magazine reviews (rags) and the opinions of "pro" players. Look to Tom Kaye of AGD to see how analysis SHOULD be done.

Jack sounds like someone who doesn't know what he is talking about. The respect I had for him (I've met him) has long since been lost.

Yes but why argue with somthing its not gonna change anyones mind. So instead of arguing wait to see a video or somthing that disprove or proves it instead of try to disprove it yourself. You could very easily be rite but it is to hard to prove the sweep technolgy dooesnt work unless you have proof.

I also dont understand why no one has made a video yet. If this technology is so revolutionary, why are you so timid about showing it off?

We're not timid, we don't have access to video cameras. I would have made one the day I got my gun if i had a camera

Yeah, plenty of people who own $1K guns, but no one who owns a video camera, or whose parents own a camera.

And its a bit more involved than just taping the gun shooting. We're talking measuring impacts, bench rests, chronos, the whole enchilada.

The alien imparts a backspin. Mystery solved. Yes, it will pull left or right if tilted accordingly. No, the statistical accuracy cannot be improved.

Right, that's the commonly held belief. EXCEPT for the fact that it wouldn't work with a good paint to barrel match. You'd need to be have a pretty big bore on the barrel, as any paint-to-barrel contact is going to destroy the spin effects, unlike the flatline, in which the barrel itself is what imparts the spin.

Now, try convincing Jack that its just backspin.

I think this is a perfect case to submit to the show "Myth Busters".

Except, outside the small paintball community, who really gives a crap? As it is, Alien and AKA shooters are themselves a fringe element of the paintball community itself.

Plus, who needs mythbusters? This isn't rocket science here.

I dont really buy that. Even if you just took a vid with your digital camera it should be able to show the effects of the sweep valve (if it really does anything).

It was a joke trying to make some light to a stupid internet arguement that will never be resolved in anyway other than a closed thread. I could give a crap about the Alien Sweep Trajectory. With or without they are still great guns worth the price we Alien fans pay for them.

As far as this thread, my opinion on that is:

The bold part reflects what I have said several times. But instead of focusing on that, Jack has to keep going on about sweep technology. At least he has stopped talking about the calm air that doesn't make as many turns.

And discussing it is a source of amusement. Unlike that overused picture you posted

True, but I still chuckle everytime I see it. It's a classic. And yes, I have been entertained by this thread so lets keep the posts coming. Gives me something to look forward to in the morning

I have a viking... My remains is in the mail... Now i must get a decent camera and some time!

I bought the remains NOT because of sweep technology, i bought it because i wanted a fast light relaible marker. If it shoots more accurate, hoo ray! If not then i still got what i want.

you guys realize that most cameras at home would be lucky to catch the paintballs leaving the barrel. Let alone the ability to slow it down and see the 2 tones of color. Your talking about 5,000 in gear if you want a camera that can do that or more.

Dude, you don't need to see the ball in flight. You just need to see the point of impact. The first thing to worry about is finding out if it indeed has more range, and the "oval shot pattern" or whatever. THEN, if it does, we look into why it does. So, all you need is the video camera, some balls, some air, and a target.

 That was genuinely funny, thank you.

We also need a chronograph, and acquiring one is too much effort for most of us. We could do the test at a field and chronograph there, but I personally like to spend my limited time at the field actually playing paintball. I admire those who take time away from their other inerests in the name of science, but its not my bag. I could care less either way, to be honest. I only continue this argument for the simple spirit of debate (even though we've played out every argument long ago).
