*Official* Building/Upgrading Advice Thread

I have noticed a lot of people lately with question about building/upgrading a computer. (Including me) I just though it would be a good idea to make an organized thread so the board wont be cluttered.

For building just post your price range, and what you want to to with the computer

For upgrading just post your current system specs, your price range, and what you wan tot upgrade.

I hope this helps everybody out,
Nick

I looked though 10 pages and didn't find a thread similar to this one... and besides his is about building. Not upgrading also.

It's ****ty as far as I know. It's cheap and I've never heard of Atrix before. Someone explained it on here really well one time all about rails and other stuff. Only some PSU are really good.

edit: the review said the capacitor blew (basically because to much was drawn from it.) and i wouldnt want anything blowing up in my comp.

Antec is a good brand, I've seen lots of people post them in computer build threads. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103931 It has good reviews too. In one review his PSU blue and took his CPU with it. He exchanged it for another Antec and said he has had zero problems. I think Thermaltake is good too.

A 500w psu that's only 27 dollars definetly isn't quality.

And on a side note, my conroe build is coming along quite nicely, should be completed by October 31st, and then I'm hoping to oc to 2.7ghz by christmas morning.

Yeah, and Cooler Master PSUs are amazing. I just ordered a 600w CM from Newegg a couple days ago, for my next computer. But it was around $125.00. So just go with a good antec..If u want to run SLI go with atleast a 550w PSU.

Also, here's a stupid question, I'm going to be running this video card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130017
and hopefully this monitor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824009089

I'm pretty sure it will be compatible, but resolution wise and such, they will work correct?
