Try to lube the entire assembly and see if that doesn't fix the leak.

Gave them a call, they were very helpful. I might have to send it in since a part may have been set wrong or the epoxy may have broke down.

How relible do you think these guns will be? Are there to many weakpoints or is teh system to complecated to be super reilible

The question should be... How Reliable are these markers?

The Answer is... VERY.

I am looking forward to "very", once it works of course.

Sending it off to Bob Long to get looked at.

Leak through my solenoid

I received my ONYX and it shoots sweet. I went to Island Arena and tested it out yesterday. I crono'd in @ 270fps (Team Night) and put about 2500 rounds through it, checking it over the crono every 3 or 4 pods and testing it's accuracy torwards the end of a case I had to adjust the reg to bring it up to 270 from 245 which is normal for a new reg that needs to break-in.

It went flawlessly all night, but unfortunately the next day I went to show it to the Guys @ Stingray Ops in Brooklyn, NY and I notice a slight hiss coming from the grip frame and when I took it apart I heard it coming from the solenoid.

I took all the precautions:
Check Dwell on off (8) = OK

Lubed the gun's bolt = NG (but, i did see what you were talking about pinching the front o-ring)

Turned out the LPR all the way = OK

Aired up the marker and it still shot with the LPR all the way out = NG

removed the LPR and lubed it re-installed as well = NG still shot

I did not want to remove the solenoid without talking to you guys first. I think the LPR might be bad, that's just my observation.

Any suggestions?

If you are experiencing a leak directly associated with the noid, and have reasonable confidence that the LPR is functioning properly. Then I would look directly at the solenoid, sounds like there some foreign matter caught up in the noid. This is somewhat a tricky situation, generally the noids are not warrantied, especially if they have been dissassembled or show signs of abuse. Option one, send the marker to BLAST for warranty repair, hopefully they will determine that there was nothing you would be responsible for and get your marker back to you in perfect working order asap. Option 2 dissassemble the noid at your own risk, if you are able for find the problem, discovering that the noid had ingested some foreign matter, clean it, relube, reassemble and re-install. If upon testing you determine that your problem has been eliminated and your marker is working like it was designed to, then you achieve have the makings of a Tech. lol!

Please note the manifold of the Humphrey solenoid is reversed on the Onyx compared to any other Intimidator solenoid.

What about the LPR being totally turned all the way out and the gun still firing (with the leak still occuring)?

considering I'm already a Timmy Tech and I've done my share of solenoid recoveries I did not want to touch it and void any warranties on a 3 day old marker (well 4 days old today). I'd rather send it back for warranty repair and have u guys look at it.

I know the routine about RMA's and sending a note with what is wrong in the box.

What I don't get is it work just fine on Tuesday Night.

If your LPR is turned all the way out and the marker is still cycling. And assuming that you have reassembled the LPR components in their correct order, then your LPR is most likely spiking and the first place to look is the pin/schrader valve. The valve itself may be defective or it is was not correctly installed and/or has developed a leak. If it's the latter then removal, cleaning and re-installation with sealant of the valve may do the trick.
A Tech's got to ascertain where the leak is located, an over-pressurized solenoid points to the LPR, if the LPR is turned out then it shouldn't be allowing air to flow. Look at the valve to see if it's sealed into position correctly.
Or send it in, good luck however you decide to handle it. Call the shop and ask for any assistance and feedback is welcome.

RMA stands for "Return Merchandise Authorization", usually there is a number attached for tracking.
If you already haven't called the shop, do so and ask for Ron in help determining the course of action concerning the Onyx.
We don't use RMA numbers but we do like a little continuity in our repair program. Shop number is #925 625-7929
1. Call the shop, explain that you have an Onyx problem and they most likely will direct to either Bob or Ron and perhaps Joe if happens to be in the shop.
2. They will advise as whether you send it in or not. Alot of times not, because troubleshooting and easy fix over the phone saves time and money.
3. If you do have to send it in, package the marker to insure it's safety from abuse in transit.
4. Include a note with an explanation, to remind the shop of your earlier contact and most importantly, a return shipping address and a reliable one at that.
I assure you that an Onyx is going to get priority and would be returned shipped immediately. This marker is extremely quick and easy to repair given that you have the spare parts to effect it.
Also, I'm quite sure that BLAST is quite anxious to find out what problems people are experiencing. So far the feedback at the shop has been extremely positive and nobody has been able to break theirs yet.

Terry,
I did call and talked to a tech who said it may be that the epoxy is breaking down between two parts of the bol? I am not sure what he was talking about lol, but hopefully it is a quick fix.

Thanks for the email address

If you ever find yourself at a PSP or NPPL event, look me up, I want to meet the Onyx owners who purchase these pre-production models. You guys have shown remarkable patience and faith in Bob and the product, something I respect and recognize and will hopefully find a way to reward you guys in the future, even though the marker is a reward in it's self.
Good Luck

LOL... Yeah... they fit pretty snug in there. You have to exert SOME force to get it in there and once it slides in a bit you'll want to rotate the loader until you get it all the way down.

Just takes a little more effort than you're used to.
