Just remember not to skimp on it now because you will regret it later...especially because you probably will own it for awhile.

Not too sure what your trying to say there, but oh well... lets see if the reason why i want a mac is right?

The technology they use in there OS is defin. not old, and shouldnt wear too fast. Planning on getting the 2.16ghz and 2gig ram with 160 hard drive for $1,620 (with tax and shipping)

It gets dirty, really quick.

Also, wait until the end of this month to purchase it...there might be a few goodies coming out with this next announcement.

noob question, what would anyone suggest to look at for a laptop that would needed to be used for the following - music, word, photoshop and other misc. programs, and internet. cheaper is better. games aren't important.

Dell for cheapness.

Lenovo or Mac for quality.

I'm planning on getting a laptop tomorrow for school. Mostly for intArweb, Office apps, crap like that. I think this is a decent deal. What do you all think? (I like the 14.1" screen, too. Small enough to fit in my bag and I'm still able to see WTF is on the screen)

Gateway MT3423 14.1" Widescreen Laptop Computer
AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-56
160GB hard drive
Burns DVDs and CDs
2GB of DDR2 memory
Built-in 802.11g wireless
Windows Vista Home Premium

for $553.31 after discount plus tax

If you have any better suggestions fire away. I'll be on my way to either order or buy one in a store around 4PM Eastern. I'll check back here before I go. Also, with the exception of my video card this thing kicks the pants off of my current desktop.

DarkEngima:

I'd honestly wait until senior year is almost over to buy a laptop. That way you get the most up to date one available and it will most likely last you past college..

And if you want it protected, invisibleshield is FTW

Senior year was over 11 years ago. This one is just to get me through 2 more years of college.

(Not so ninja) edit: that might have come off dicky. Thanks for the input though. I don't want to spend more than like $600 since it's not going to be a primary computer and it only has to last a few years.

13 years of college, I'm guessing you took a break? Damn. But no I was talking to Dark Enigma, who is basicly in the same situation I am..

But I've been out of the computer scene for a while now, I used to post in ST:T(TCGF) a long time ago, but now my dad is wanting to build a comp so I've started browsing more.. But from what I remember, that is an amazing deal though.. Anything with 2 gigs of ram would have been expensive as balls when I was into computers. IDK about that processor though
