Arrow POSSIBLE VLOCITY GHOST FIX!!!! read inside!!!!!

here is the scoop. I have one VLocity that has the ghost problem, the thing barely feeds faster than 15bps. Since Viewloader's customer service blows, I decided to buy a new one, and see if I could fix the problem myself.

Here is what I noticed. The new one obviously didnt have the ghost problem.

When I took the FAST loader apart, I noticed that the loader has 4 eyes, but the back eyes had the black hoods on them, and the front eyes didnt.

Check the pictures-

FAST LOADER (notice the front eyes without the black hood)

Slow Ghost Problem Loader (notice the front eyes have the hoods)

So I removed the hoods from the front eyes, and the loader picked up a TON of speed, easily 3+ bps, it worked MUCH better and MUCH faster with these removed

Is this a possible answer to this problem? possibly misaligned eyes? I have no idea. If your VLocity has the ghost problem, try carefully pulling the black hood off the front eyes and see if it fixes it. It obviously cant make it worse

It definitely fixed my VLocity, without a doubt

I was litterally just about to post this! Taking pictures and all!!!

There is a serious manufacturing defect, and this is most certainly the reason the loaders are ghosting.

Unfortunately I do not feel you have hit the nail on the head as one would say...

The issue here (as I believe) is that the recievers are facing the recievers and the transmitters are facing the transmitters on the broken loaders.

This could mean that when blocked entirely by a paintball, the reading is correct, but when just the edge of the ball (top or bottom) is blocking them, it wont read properly.

I am currently investigating whether or not the recievers and transmitters are infact mixed up (waiting to get my hands on a few more vlocitys) but I am definately going to be posting some information about this very soon.

Nice job being observant, as I cant even take credit for discovering it on my side, seeing how it was my software engineer that noticed it once he took my loader apart.

This could mean big problems for VL if the transciever and reciever ends are mixed up. The boards would have to be sent in, the parts desoldered and resoldered on properly.

What exactly is a "ghost" Vlocity? I may be trading some stuff for one to try out.

Is it just "slower feeding" than normal, or does it malfunction.

Is Viewloader doing anything about it?

Thanks for help.

I dont believe Viewloader knows yet. I spoke with several people in Brass Eagle today, and will be in contact with them tomorrow morning, and I will let them know what Rendition Tech has discovered, along with myself.

I have done this before to my EGG and now my Vlocity. I found that sometimes the covers cause problem.

On my Vlocity I removed the covers and widened the holes in them with a cordless drill or dremel and small bit. When done correctly you should be able to see the eye threw the hole. So make sure to clean out any shavings or junk that might block the eyes. Then I placed the covers on the one side of the board that is a little fatter. Then on the other side I took a Sharpie and blackened out the back and sides leaving the front that has the eyes exposed to see completely alone.

I am not sure if my loader had the ghosting problem but I have found that this modification helps the loader see better. I could post pictures if you like.

I tried it on a stock VLocity and it had the same BPS maybe even a tad bit slower.

Yeah i traded my halo for a vlocity and seems to be doing what you have described. I didnt really know what it was at the time, thought maybe it was just settings or batterys, so I traded it. If hes not happy with it and I get it back ill try it. Also, when drop testing it, on setting 8, when I stuck my hand under the feedneck, I felt little to no pressure on the balls. Might that be a differnt problem? Thanks

Interesting find. I'll have to try this over the weekend with my VLocity.

I also don't think the transmitter and recievers are crossed. The loader only uses both sets of eyes when you turn it on to "calibrate" itself. Then it goes to using 1 set to work.

I've been around and around, and around with VL on this issue. They are just not interested in hearing about it anymore.

BTW, one of my eyes looking at the front of the loader, on the left side, the front eye is red, not white.
