Project: Intimidator X

So, some of you may be following my blog. I've decided to post a thread too, more views and easier feedback.

The plan is to use as many of the parts I currently own (I've owned 5 Intimidators, I have plenty of spare parts...) to create one insane Intimidator.

The big parts I already have, I'll probably pick up some misc. parts as needed.

Here is a mock-up:

You may be wondering why I'm using an LED Clamshell. Well, the answer is simple. A QEV won't fit in new frames. And I already have one.

The QEV needs to be trimmed about 1/8" inch and the M3 to 10-32 adapter needs to be rounded off, but just from eye balling, it will fit. I have a decoration block that will be modified to cover the back of the tube.

Oh, the 2k4 Tadao board fits nicely. I had to trim the spring holder on the frame and one of the on/off posts, easy, I did it with a pair of pliers.

I'm already set to have the body milled, it's being done by www.eliapaintball.com and it will be very, very, very aggressive. That is to say, she's going away a heifer and coming back svelte.

I'm not going to post the reference pictures of design I want, so you can all just squirm for now. That's where I am so far.

P.S. Words are defined for the incontinent.

If the QEV wont fit when directly screwed into the ram sleeve, splice it into the air hose line somewhere where there is room.

I don't know about better, I think we're going in different directions.

Hopefully the body will be off to EPM by the end of the week. I already have my show horse (Empire'd Ripper 1) now it's time for the work horse.

Oh, mini-update: The frame will also be put on a diet. But that may be more along the lines of "Say hello to my bench sander."

I already know that my Ironmen is better than this, but I will still continue to look into this project.

I like the QEV idea and implementation, but you see MUCH more benefit from the front one as opposed to the back one, since the valve can cycle more quickly forward, providing a harder hit to the valve stem.

Custom decoration block also might be nice for this one.

For some reason I also tend to prefer 2k2 electronics. My WAS 2.9 + WAS noid combo is pretty nice, and was very cheap.

damn it some one took my QEV idea, but I got custom made standoffs that allow for QEVS to for in 2k5 frames. The guy might be interested in selling more if anyone wants them. But the idea of inline QEVs would be pretty cool, other than u would need a Female barb which would be a ***** to find and would cost alot.

I've heard QEVs don't really offer any real benefits...

other than less kick, possible lower lpr pressure, best consistancy/better accuracy. Side effects are the gun might be somewhat louder.

Well, this is going swimingly. I definitely can get another QEV this guy, especially with the LPR hose coming from the bottom of the frame. Oh, that's one thing I didn't mention before. The front block is going to house the HPR and a gutted LPR as a volly, and the LPR is going to be mounted directly off my Bob Long On/Off.

And I've had these M3 to 10-32 adapters from Beswick for about...2 years now...just never had any use for them. If I can bum access to the school's machine shop I'd be golden...why oh why did I major in International Studies?

I've only got Humphrey H040's, three of them. I have a WAS 2.6 sitting right here, and an Entropy, and an LCD Frenzy 116, and a Select Fire...and an SOB :/. I didn't realize it was $20 to upgrade a Tadao M3 to M6. I think Lopez17 will be getting my WAS very soon...I'll see if I can find any unmodified 12/14 pt. harness in my bag-o-Intimidator.

Lurker: Give any thought to my proposition about the Eigenram? I'll be looking into a WAS 'noid...or an ASCO

Solenoids already vent fast enough. The point of a QEV is to vent the air at the ram.

Update: I've ordered some new QEVs, the Clippard ones I have are a bit bulky in the frame. I also ordered the 1/8" NPT elbow I'll need to mount the Micro Rock to the On/Off.

The Micro Rock has a max input of 1500 PSI! This is looking very good. One problem is that I think my Micro Rock is 3000 miles away, or non-existent I can't remember what LPR my Fishbone is running. Oh well, they are cheap enough.

I'm going to need a screw in tank, preferably an HP Legionair or Crossfire. I love my Conquest, but it only has one output.

The QEVs will definitley fit, even the Clippard ones fit. Also, I don't have to trim the QEV anymore, I'm going to have the body notched to give the QEV some more room.
