lpr removal

ok, just got a vp volumizer for my ripper 2. any special way to get the lpr base out of the front block. i don't wan't to scratch the body.
I dont think a strap wrench will grip the 1/4 inch left on the base of the lpr from the block.

I checked the stickies and they only have an article for a gz.

Strap wrench FTW! there is enough grip even with that 1/4" left.

or if you don't want to buy a strap wrench... you can always use a vice grip and put a towel around the lpr base.

towels, (or electrical tape) dosen't work. the teeth go right through. Either a strap wrench or get a thick piece of tubing from the hardware store.

A trick I've used forever is to put the LPR cap back on, wrap the seam with athletic tape (not the smooth kind, the fabric type) and twist off the whole she-bang. Athletic tape is the most useful stuff to have in your gear bag. It works as an impromptu bandage, you can use it to keep a broken pad on, you can use it to get things apart, etc. etc. Duct tape is overrated.

Strap wrenches suck, I hate them.

I use an old leather belt and a vice-grips in place of a strap wrench.
"Hello? Anybody home? Hello, Mr. Gopher! It's me, Mr. Squirrel. Just a harmless squirrel. Not a plastic explosive or anything. Nothing to be worried about. I'm just here to make your last hours on earth as peaceful as possible. Don't mind this. This is doctor's orders. You don't mind if I just pop in there for a few laughs? That's right. Or in the words of Jean-Paul Sartre: "Au revoir, gopher." This is going to be sweet"
