Is this paintball lawsuit ridiculous?

There is a paintball lawsuit I noticed in the news. Some kids were driving around shooting at people and shot this women. She got hit once in the back of the leg.

She is now suing for the following:

Renee Mafaro suffered "serious" neurological injury to her leg, affecting her ability to walk and requiring months of physical therapy, said Louis Grandelli, her lawyer.

Read the article and see the picture for yourself here.

My question to you guys is this possible to happen? Or is this just a huge frivolous lawsuit. Just want your thoughts on this one.

I have seen people get hit 100+ times in less than a minute without any problems.

Here is the image of the hit on the back of her leg.

its a civil suit following criminal activity.
its the one avenue of recompense when the criminal charges only afford
little punishment due to their age.

any civil suit lawyers look ant any expense that can be applied to
arm the prosecution better, as sometimes you can settle.

It's people like those kids that ruin the sport.

With that said, they probably have some shi... crappy Tippmann that they're dad got them for Christmas 3 years ago and it's been collecting dust other than being shot at targets once or twice a year.

And to add to all that, close-minded people everywhere are just waiting for an opportunity to stop our sport because "it causes violence" or they read on FaceBook some 10 year old kid died because he thought it was good idea to load a marble in the barrel and shoot himself in the head. What's more is that these same people are waiting to sue somebody for something so that they can make more money than their stupid desk job pays.

So now what's gonna happen is in your area, the closest field(s) is gonna catch the heat from the media for the next 2-3 weeks. Sorry to hear this happened in your area. Good luck.
Yes, that's my mask.
Yes, it's awesome.

Almost every civil suit ends in summary dismissal or settlement.
Considering there's a conviction, ain't no way a judge is going to dismiss this civil suit out of hand.
Sure, the amount of damages currently alleged are preposterous, and everyone knows that, but there's no question that these kids hurt the woman at least a little.

So, since it's unlikely anyone is going to dismiss the suit, this one will settle too, at a fraction of what the plaintiff's attorney is going for.
It's all going to be a question of what the kid's parents are going to be able to shell out.

Serves 'em right, too.
Kids were being turds, hurting innocent people, and making life harder for the rest of us honest paintballers.
Hope their parents buy this lady and her lawyer new Lexuses.
