WAS software setup
Hey all. I am soon to set up the WAS software on my computer so I can update my markers. I have WINRAR to download the files and I am not used to it. I should have stuck with WinZip. I do not want to mees up the boards with the big 2.0 warning because of 1.3. I am reading that on the site and it just gives me a headache. So after downloading the main file, what should I install next and all? Hardware I am good at. Software is my Achilles Heel.
Also, I just bought two spare boards from the WAS site. Does anyone know what software is on them?

The new boards are shipped with 1.6 unless you ask for 2.0.

As Pillsbury said, when you take the files out of the bundle you'll be able to open the Equalink program. Assuming you have your board plugged into the cable, it'll find the board and try to pull up the code. With the Intimidtors I get an error, I can't remember if the Vikings do this as well.
Regardless, you want to click on the update board button. Select from your file list the bootloader code first to get the firmware ready for the code. If you don't do the boot loader code first your board will have to go back to WAS.
When the bootloader code is finished updating turn the marker off. Wait 5 seconds, then turn it back on in Programming mode. When the LED goes out, (about 5-7 seconds) then click the update board button again. This time select the viking code. This will update the software to 2.0.
Once you do this a few times it becomes second nature.
REMINDER: DO NOT UPDATE TO THE 2.0 CODE IF YOU INTEND TO USE THIS IN AN EXCAL!!!! The latest version that can be used in an Excal is 1.6.

Ok what I am mainly talking about is the setup on the computer. You have the main file and like three or four other file. What do I do with those files? Is there an automatic update in the Equalink software where I do not have to worry about downloading the files? Or do I have to download them and which folder do I put them in?

all you need is the equalink exe and the zip or actual files to be transfered in a folder somewhere where you know there location, it will ask you to browse for them i believe.

Yup...just run Equalink.exe and it'll put you into the program. Then you update the boot code, then the software. Then click reset to defaults, then upload settings. Then change any settings you want and click upload again.

Ok I loaded up the software. It says version 1.4. I follow the instructions on the WAS site. The information on the monitor stays greayed out. I click on the find equalizer and it comes up on COM 3. I try to update software and nothing. My friend was having this same exact problem on his laptop. I have no idea what to do here
I am getting no information about was version is on the board. I set the Viking into program mode properly, I click Find Equalizer, The light turns green on the back of my Viking, then nothing.
