Question Bore Size.....?

I am kind of a n00b, well, ya, I am a n00b... ok:

What is the deal with "bore" I gather that it is the size of the barrel/paintball, but how much difference does it make? I understand that using a large bore ball in a small bore barrel will not work, but will it work the other way around? If so, what will it change?

I also have another question, are all barrels threaded the same? I currently have a Tippman 98 Custom, all stock, and I was looking to buy a more acccurate barrel. I have seen the flatlines, but I am not really impressed, also, my friend has one and is always swearing about how much of a pain in the neck it is to disassemble and reassemble.

OK, narrow this down:

1.) What is the deal with bore?
2.) What is the deal with barrel threads, and can anyone suggest a good, relatively inexpensive, barrel?

Civility and bore size

Let's try and keep the board civil and productive, no more flames please.

The box does not have anything else written on it, all of the balls have "HSP" on them, for "Hollywood Sports Park."

Should I just assume that they are .698?

Also, about the barrels... what barrels DO work with the Tippman 98 custom, and if some don't, can I get adaptors?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

to simpy answer both your questions

1) bore is a couple of things. It is the size of the inside of your barrel or the diameter of your paintball. You want these to be a perfect match to achieve the best accuracy and range.

2) no all barrels do not have the same threads. Your tippmann 98custom has 3 threads on it very large while the spyder has about 6 or 7 not really sure but they are small and close together

if those dont answer your questions shoot me and email ill try and exlplain it better

Question Nyte Stikk

I think I have decided on what barrel to get, the 32 Degrees Nyte Stikk (.693 bore), either a 10" or 12". I have a Tippman 98 (.692 bore), all stock right now, I read that the nyte stikk barrel is compatible with the 98, can anyone suggest a brand of paintball from for a .692 bore barrel and a .693 bore barrel: Blaze, Inferno, Midnight, or the house paint that is .689 bore?

it isnt what you listed but is made by diablo is Dusk i wouldnt usually shoot it i would go higher grade but a i go it for x mas anyway i was testing it with my freak and i found that it fit really well withthe 693 insert but a tiny bit loose it would be supreme with a 692. If you field isnt field paint only then pick some of that up

My field is field paint only, and that is all that they offer, do you have any advice? Which one should I go with?

diablos are medium to large bore, so i suggest a lapco bigshot or j&j ceramic. if you can say the exact kind of diablo, i can narrow it down to 1 barrel for you.

What will happen if I use large bore paintballs in a medium bore barrel?
