What are the must haves(for excals)?

So I'm contemplating picking up one of the raw excals off of yeppers. I plan on having everything anno'd to match so I'm looking to get all the things I might want before sending it out. So far the only things I am going to buy are a volumizer and a clamping feed neck. The no rise feednecks seem to be popular these days. Who makes a quality piece? Any other suggestions? On a side note does anyone know if getting a raw excal anno'd will affect my warranty at all (I know you can void it by having an aka marker with the stock hard anno stripped and re-annod). Also does AKA still do the reassembly or will I have to send it to a tech site?

I'm in the same situation you are. I just picked up one of the raw Vikings. I'm gathering the parts now before I send it in to Destructive Customs. I'm fond of the CCM clamping feednecks. Since you are getting an Excal done, you might want to think about picking up a good barrel kit (you don't want rollout). You could have it anno'd at the same time also.

Yeah I forgot to add that. I might end up with a freak kit since they are reasonably priced and I won't have to worry about bore size changing when i get it anno'd. Any barrel kits you want to reccomend?

Oh, and what else are you getting for your viking? Are you having DC do any mill work or just anno?

As far as barrel kits go, I like the MacDev Matchstik kit. I'm having the FSP milling done on the Viking. It will then go to FBM for annodizing and finally back to DC for assembly. The extra things I'm adding are: 2 liter reg, CCM feedneck, DC volumizer, Froth trigger, and MacDev 14" tip (I'm leaving the back it's normal black color), and a Froth trigger. I was thinking about getting the bottomline anno'd too but I'm not sure yet.

Cool. I am considering going with a Pepper Stickz barrel kit since its been getting good reviews. I'll have to check out the Macdev kit. Link to FBM? Who sells the froth trigger? I saw it on someone's viking but I can't find any places that sell it. I'd get the asa anno'd to match since it'll only be a little extra.

The link is www.fbmfactory.com. They are the regular place DC uses for all of their anno jobs. I don't believe Froth is making triggers anymore. His website is offline and I heard he was really backed up. I luckily picked up a used one.

I'll have to keep an eye out for them in the buy/sell/trade sections. What kind of anno are you getting done?

FBM sells a clamping no rise that doesn't require a tool to tighten. I think that would be something to look into. Since you are getting the raw kit from Yeppers you would either have to send it to your place of choice for ano or to DC who would send it off to FBM and then assemble it for you.

Yeah I was looking at the FBM clamping no rise. I'm going with that or the ccm clamping rise. I'll be working with a smaller anno company to get something different done. I may look into FBM though as their work is nice. On a side note would I be sending the parts to DC or AKA's main facility since I would only be recieving the parts that need to be anno'd? Or does AKA reimburse DC for the parts they put into my marker?

DC is an authorized service center so they could completely assemble it for you and provide you with a warranty card. It would most likely be alot faster too since AKA is short on techs right now.

I think I got the last of Froth's triggers. It was about a 6 month wait to get it but it's a different pull than the other triggers on the market. I had corresponded with him and he was a top notch guy. I only hope he finds more time to make more.

I can only hope he does. On a side note. What kind of tanks do you guys run? I am contemplating between a hp or lp preset. Now I know I can run an excal on either but I might not be able to use it on another marker. What do you guys suggest? Is there any advantage to running an lp tank over a hp tank?

Actually, its better to use a HP tank then a LP tank. With a HP tank you dont have to worry about starving your gun for air and getting drop off. Other than that, it doesnt really matter.

I would pick up a crossfire tank, they have one of the best regs and you can pick them up for cheap.

Ok just placed the order for an 04 Raw Half Milled Excal. Also ordered a raw volumizer from DBN Paintball. Now I just need to decide between the CCM/FBM clamping necks. Does anyone know if the FBM neck requires any cutting or if it clamps onto the whole neck like the ccm piece?

As for a tank. I can get an AA preset HP or LP 45/45 for $160 shipped. That a good deal? I'll most likely pick up a hp tank so I don't have to worry about recharge/drop off and I'll know I can use it on another marker no problem.

Yeah, those are the reasons I chose HP. Im sure you could use a LP tank and it would work fine, but i would rather not roll the dice.
