Del's Assessment of Event 3
Thanks go out to all the players who attended and had a good time (the majority). To the others, the GPL staff and us at DHP will keep trying to please as many as possible, although we know that is probably never going to happen. Many people worked very hard this past weekend to give you all the best they could. As for the field layouts, I set up the fields and try to add some variety to the games. If all of you would rather have cookie cutter type fields that are not challenging, then next event I will make them simpler. Many teams had no problem at all ending games in 2,3,or 4 minutes on the APS field. Teams with vision will never worry about the layouts, they adapt and win. Maybe some teams dwell on the fact that they can't play a certain type of field and take themselves right out of the game. End of story!!!
The referee problems you players complain about happen from time to time at any level of this sport. Sometimes when you hire people to do a job, it doesn't get done the way you would like but your stuck with it. Keep in mind that 20 or more pair of spectator eyes will always see more than 3 or 4 refs. They don't have that luxury to see everything that you do. But, its what they see that matters, not what they hear from spectators that are supposed to be quiet. By the way, players are not supposed to have a ref pull them from a game, they should come out on their own when they know they been hit, imagine that!! They are there to assist and make a call on players that are unsure if they have been hit, to protect a player if need be, and to enforce the rules. I have traveled all across this country following the NPPL and the PSP, and it is no different there. I have seen teams screwed out of national tournaments by refs that I would not even consider for the GPL. After spending $6000.00 to get a team to a national event you would think that should not happen but it does. It is the nature of this sport so you have to deal with it and put your trust in the promoters that they will make every effort to make the next one better, as I know the GPL staff is already working on. Eric has put in many hours of work behind the scenes to develope a great reffing crew. I know he has adjustments to make and I have all the confidence in him that he is committed. It all takes time. The GPL is by far the best and most economical series out there. Any league that grows at the pace they have is sure to run into problems along the way. We at Del's are behind the GPL 100% and are working hard along side of them to make this series the number one series in the country. Most of you players understand what I'm talking about, For those of you that come in to these forums to bash and complain about every little thing that you don't agree with, I would suggest finding something better to do with your time. (I could always use help setting up the fields.) There is so much negativity in our sport today, that unless we all can be constructive with our thoughts and voices we may not be able to enjoy it in the future. Any problems or concerns a player or team may have should be directed to Brian or Cindi. Don't air it out in these forums for uninformed people to comment on. On a side note, I would personally like to thank the Pedricktown Ambulance squad for being in attendence this past weekend. I know that they appreciate the donations from all the players.
See you all at GPL4,
Tom (DHP)

Multiply that by your entire crew not including your pit or your friends just the players, coach and Alts.

I had fun at this GPL, I didn't get sick and I liked the field set up for the fields we played on. You guys ran thing perfectly and also Cyndi and Brian did an amazing job of keeping things under control. Hopefully next year the GPL will be at dels. I am not sucking up I'm just speaking my mind because I'm awesome like that. Hope to see you and Dan later on. Tell everyone at the shop I'll see them in about a month.
Peace-
Kat
